snoop1130 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic development model is now being implemented to drive the sustainable growth of the Thai economy. In conformance with this model, a target has now been set by the Industry Ministry for factories nationwide to enter into the Green Economy in 2025. Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit said he has assigned the Department of Industrial Works to drive the green economy by promoting businesses’ transition into the green industry. The objective is to increase social responsibility and environmentally friendly operations within the industrial sector. Mr. Suriya explained that under this drive, support from the department will cover the use of technology and innovations, optimization of resources, and eco-friendly manufacturing. The efforts are in line with the government’s BCG model, which seeks economic development in tandem with social development and environmental conservation. The Department of Industrial Works has been giving support to green economy undertakings since 2011, and there are now 45,433 places of operation that have received green industry certificates. This year, another 3,400 places of operation had requested green industry certification. The industry minister revealed that for 2022, a target has been set to have 60% of all industrial sites certified whereas the goal is to bring all industrial plants into the green industry within 2025. 1.22 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions would be cut each year if the 2022 target is achieved. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-11-30 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
koratkarlos Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I hope this happens. But with the smoke bellowing trucks on the road, the anticipation of the next burning season and plastic everywhere I have my doubts that much will change. But I truly hope that I am wrong about this. 2
