One of the most touching stories of the week came from the north east of Thailand - that lovely part of the kingdom that this Bangkokian has always thoroughly appreciated even if I like to tease the natives as bumpkins.

897kgs of crystal methamphetamine bound for Taiwan seized at Bangkok port

Thai customs officials seized 897 kilograms of crystal meth at Bangkok port today (Saturday). The drugs were being transported to Taiwan.

Security guard murdered in front of a mosque in Thailand’s Yala province

A village security guard was shot dead in front of a masjid in Muang district of the southern border province of Yala after attending Friday night prayers.

Search for stray tiger in Thailand’s Kamphaeng Phet province continues

Wildlife officials have been trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to track down a four-year old tiger, named Vichit, which strayed out of its habitat in Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary five days ago.

November inflation reaches 2.71%

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s inflation rate in November increased for the third consecutive month to 2.71%, thanks to the increase in grocery and fuel prices. The government’s trade policy agency now expects next year’s inflation to stay within the margin of 0.7-2.4%.

Phuket hosts APEC ISOM
