BANGKOK (NNT) - According to Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang, in order to cope with the new Omicron variant, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is planning to provide a fourth shot to frontline medical officers and patients with chronic conditions.

He said Covid-19 vaccines allotted to the BMA by the Public Health Ministry will be provided to different groups based on their vaccination records and risk of infections at work.

People aged older than 18 who have never been vaccinated will receive two doses of AstraZeneca while youngsters aged 12 - 17 will be given two doses of Pfizer. Meanwhile, anyone who has already received the first shot will be given the second shot depending on the availability and formulae (AstraZeneca-AstraZeneca, AstraZeneca-Pfizer, and Sinovac-AstraZeneca).

For a booster dose, those who received Sinovac or AstraZeneca vaccines before October can apply for a third shot within a 4-week interval after the second shot. People who recovered from Covid-19 can also apply for a booster dose.

The BMA will also provide a fourth shot to people in high-risk groups to maintain their immunity. People in these groups are medical workers who work closely with patients, and vulnerable people who have chronic diseases like cancer, heart diseases, and diabetes.

4th shot when many still waiting first or second?

All this is fine IF you live in BKK.

However if you live in Thailand, you don't matter.

It sound a bit strange that some Thais are still awaiting their first shot if they want it.

Didn't the government said there are plenty vaccines for everyone?

Is it mostly in rural Thailand people are missing their shots, since the logistics are a bit different there?
