Alan Parsons was a noted Cambridge physicist.

Somebody should start a thread for best comedy clips...there probably is one already. If not, I nominate @Bannork.

He may have lacked fame, but he made up for with greatness - in spades.

Back in the day, "The John Miles set" was a very popular "turn" in the working men's clubs in the north east of England. This was a great song which made him famous but he seemed to slip back into obscurity after this single came and went.

For me, the Byrds' version tops the list. McGuinn's voice just hits the spot, and the lyrics-

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull, I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow

Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

We can  be so sure we know all the answers when we're young ( hence we're wise, old) but later on we realise life and moral choices are complex so it's back to the drawing board, we accept we know little.

Sorry for the double post below.

BTW, has anyone noticed the similarity between Putin and Dr Evil? Could they be related?

I think we need to know.

If I’ve learned one thing from this thread, it’s that I don’t have near enough Dylan songs in my playlist.

I’d need to see a shirtless photo of Dr. Evil petting his horse, before I could be absolutely certain. ????????
