After reading about Flashget on this forum and the way so many posters raved about it I downloaded it and to be honest have not looked back.

I have been trying to download Torrents without much success, followed all the advice given out here but nothing seemed to work for me. With FlashGet I am able to download Torrents without having to do any setting-up of DNS or Port Forwarding.

By using FlashGet in default mode I am able, if the wind is in the right direction, to download a movie in a couple of days.

Alright I realise this is pathetic but to me it is a Eureka moment to savor.

What I’m after is some advice on tweaking FlashGet.

My setup is a single computer running XP Pro with TOT ADSL modem connected through a LAN card. My TOT ADSL account is Supercyber 256/128 Kbps.

Should I check the “Use default proxy in all jobs?” or leave it default “unchecked?”

In connections should I leave it as default “1M cable/DSL” or “other?” or what?

In configure BT – Torrent downloads – Optimized modes – Should I leave Default “Unknown” or set to “LAN” or “ADSL”?

Should I check “Protocol Encryption” or leave unchecked?

What about “Listening Ports?” Should I change this setting?

Anything Else????

Thanks in advance for any input and help in this.

Based on the above I assumed that it was fine as it was. Sorry, but I use Azureus and have not had time to try the Flashget built-in bittorrent manager. Will have to see if anyone has experience, but my guess most members already have their favorite torrent client.

Will give it a go though:

Connections: default DSL - yes

Optimized mode: ADSL

Protocol encryption: unchecked

Listening ports: no change

Default proxy: might try it checked. If a download has to restart a packet, may speed things up a bit.

Thanks "TYWAIS" for your reply

Yes it is working as is but with all the optional settings available I was just wondering if it could be tweaked some.

Will try your suggestions and see if it gives a few more Kpm’s. :o

Thanks :D
