Must have found the stolen blue diamond and is giving it back.

It will take more than that. A Saudi businessman "disappeared", plus three Saudi embassy employees murdered. Quite a laundry list for PM Prayut.

It's positively amazing that they can write a story and not even mention the Blue Diamond affair, the deaths and the various side issues that caused the entire debacle that led to the 'strained' relationship between the two countries.

Absolutely. It also has no mention of the fact that there are still no direct flights between the 2 countries and Saudi's without special permission still aren't allowed to travel to Thailand, or face big problems if immigration see a Thai stamp in their passport upon returning.

I look forward to him making a full public apology to the Saudi people for the discracful coverup, theft and murder, that is the "Blue diamond affair".

Very telling that the article fails to mention why diplomatic ties between Thailand and Saudi ended in the first place.

Ignore the elephant in the room, how typically Thai.

Hopefully, much like when Thaksin took a trip outbound they will remove him by a new coup.  The PPP party boat has spring holes and appears to be headed into unstable waters ahead.....

It sure would be fun to see this clowns passport revoked while he was abroad, by a coup within a coup. He richly deserves exile. And it does make sense for him to court a relationship with the Saudis. One despot relating with another. Prayuth and MBS. Two very pathetic men.

The aim was to normalise the long stalled relationship.

Possibly, but I bet not! (for reference):-

....... in more than 30 years following decades of diplomatic tension sparked by a jewel theft from a Saudi palace.

Thai-born janitor ..................... stole $20 million worth of precious gems in 1989 from the home of a Saudi prince, triggering a feud between the countries dubbed the "Blue Diamond Affair".

Thai police later returned some of the jewels but Saudi officials claimed most were fakes, while the whereabouts of the most precious gem -- a rare 50-carat blue diamond -- remains unknown.

(please read the complete article - most interesting with subsequent corruption and murder in Bangkok.)
