Heavily armed police commandos in the province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat in southern Thailand surrounded a house in Hua Sai district where a notorious hired gun and drug dealer was holed up at his wife's house. 

 

But Pradit Musikapong, 41 - known in the Thai media as "Ai Krek" - from Phatthalung was not coming quietly.

 

He started shooting with a war  weapon and hurling explosive devices, reported Thai Rath.

 

He was shot dead after a gunfight. 

 

On hand to witness the operation were two of Thailand's "Bigs" - high profile policemen.

There was Big Mai - Gen Suchart Theerasawat. And Big Joke - Lt-Gen Surachet Hakpan who is popping up everywhere these days.

 

Pradit was named in 15 warrants in Phattalung, Trang and Songkhla. 

 

Between 2007 and 2022 he was wanted for five murders, a robbery, an attempted murder of a cop and several drugs cases.

A latest warrant issued in Phatthalung semed to be the spur that finally brought about the end of "Ai Krek's" villainous reign, notes ASEAN NOW. 

 

His wife Bulan was taken into custody.
