Pheu Thai party leader Chonlanan Srikaew is urging Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to dissolve parliament and to hold a snap election, noting that the defeat of the ruling Palang Pracharat party in yesterday’s Bangkok Constituency 9 by-election is a reflection of the government’s failure to ease people’s hardships.

 

To return the power back to the people by dissolving parliament is the best option and there is nothing to be ashamed of, said Chonlanan today (Monday), adding that the election result is a sign that people now want political change and democracy.

 

He also said that the party will work harder, with the goals of winning a landslide in the next general election, forming a new government and working for the people.

This government doesn't give a rats what the people want... the last 6 years has been about what they wanted.

About a 46% voter turnout of which PPRP got about 10%! But Constituency 9 only covers Lak Si and part of Chatuchak districts. So not a conclusive voting trend for Bangkok province overall. 

Furthermore, PTP received only received about 38% of total votes vs MFP with 26% and KP with 26%. So PTP itself didn't get a landslide election result but the combined votes of what might be considered combined opposition to PPRP would seem to be a landslide.

The election for Bangkok governor in mid-year 2022 should be more telling as to the depth of political opposition to PPRP on a national scale. 

 

 

 

It might help if Pheu Thai were to remove themselves from the coalition. Prayut would then not have a genuine majority, except for his hand picked senators.

I thought the (pro-junta) senate  functioned, more or less, as a bar to a non-junta group taking power.

 

So, is the OP's dream of:

 

"winning a landslide in the next general election, forming a new government"

 

actually a possibility?

Pheu Thai are members of the opposition party.
