COVID Controllable despite over 10,000 New Cases Daily

BANGKOK, Feb 7 (TNA) – COVID-19 remains controllable though causing over 10,000 new cases daily over the past three days because symptoms are not severe and the numbers of seriously ill cases and new fatalities are stable, according to the Public Health Ministry.

Senior Royal Thai Police officials join investigation and gives updates around foreigner’s murder at Phuket villa

Crime Suppression Division in Phuket to probe murder of foreigner

Bangkok-based police, from the Crime Suppression Division, have been sent to Phuket to help local police in the investigation into the murder of a foreign man, who was shot by two gunmen, also believed to be foreigners, at a villa in Rawai sub-district on Friday night.

Dane got Royal pardon from Thailand but waited over six months to be released in Denmark

Danish Sonny Rasmussen has served four and a half years in a Thai prison and four years in a Danish prison and has just been released now although he got a Royal pardon from Thailand six months ago. Media TV2 writes that only when they stepped into the matter, something happened.

In a move to reduce side effects from mRNA booster shots, the Public Health Ministry has given recipients three different COVID-19 vaccination options. The first is the full 30-microgram dose via intramuscular injection. The second is a half dose (15mcg) via the same method. And the third is a 10mcg dose via intradermal injection into the skin.

Thailand rice exports expected to rise sharply

BANGKOK, THAILAND — Thailand is forecast to export 8 million tonnes of rice in the 2021-22 marketing year, up 31% from the previous year, according to a Global Agricultural Information Network report from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Mild, asymptomatic COVID-19 cases not entitled to claim under new insurance rules

Thailand’s Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has issued new rules, which take effect on February 15th, limiting compensation claims by people infected with COVID-19. Patients who are symptomatic or who have mild symptoms being treated in hospital or in home isolation and are without doctor’s certificate stating the need for treatment in such facilities will not be covered by the medical care or compensation scheme.

Poor air quality in 53 areas of Bangkok, surrounding provinces, Lat Phrao the worst

Fifty-three areas of Bangkok and its surrounding provinces are experiencing air pollution today (Tuesday), with the amount of PM2.5 dust exceeding the standard 50-micron level, with the level on Lat Phrao road the worst, according to the Pollution Control Department’s air4thai website.

Public advised to be aware of dengue fever re-emergence in Thailand

Thailand’s Disease Control Department is advising people to protect themselves against mosquito bites, saying that dengue fever, which is carried by mosquitos, is likely to become more widespread this year.
