Daily News Thai Caption

Thailand's press in the form of Thai Rath continued to report every angle in the aftermath of the apparent gang shooting of an Indian man with Canadian nationality in Phuket last Friday.

Daily News called him Jimi Singh Sandhu though elsewhere they referred to him as Mandeep Singh.

They quoted the RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk as saying that a review is underway as to how Thailand manages to keep out foreign criminals.

He said that if this was done in the first place it could have prevented this violence.

He said that the force would be looking at interactions with foreign agencies and how the Thais act on information received.

ASEAN NOW notes that there is a widespread perception among the Thai public that the RTP do very little to prevent foreign criminals entering Thailand.

Places like Phuket and Pattaya in particular are well known for harboring foreign criminal elements and individuals with mafia connections.

  • I thought we already had TM30 and 90 day reports to eliminate foreign criminals operating here.

  • May I suggest doing a daily reporting instead of 90 days ? As it seems 90 days isnt stopping 'foreign criminals'.

Yep. Like those elderly Bridge players that were rounded up in Pattaya a couple of years ago and treated as if they had committed a capital crime.

Probably something like that - even from countries who's police force don't furnish such documents.

Did they find shooters already?

allegedly the top 100 top guns for hire assassins are thai cops - former and present serving.
so what if this guy was gunned down by thai mafia by a thai cop?

what is this mafia is closely associated with drug peddling cops?

what if entry to thailand by this dealer was passed from thai immigration or some other branch of royal thai police to a local mafia?

Let's be realistic here. The Indian got in with a fake passport?

Assassin for hire is a protected occupation, no foreigners allowed.

So they've known about these "gaps" all along but now they are thinking to "plug" them?

They would have to start by eliminating corruption at Immigration regarding agents and entry approvals. How likely is that?

Don't even suggest it. Even in jest. Clutching at straws springs to mind. Maybe if they concentrated on cleaning up their own mafia it might be a start. The 'Family' seem to have a firm hold on Phuket already. Taxis, for example. The police can't even control them. Why I wonder? But then.....

Obviously they were hardened criminals, They nearly escaped capture on their walking frames. But the boys in brown managed to nab them. A game of Bridge too far.????

I wonder if we'll all be put back on the 'potential violent criminal' list and be given a house-call or two to make sure we aren't planning on filling a gang member full of holes.  I still remember the Erawan bombing when pretty much every farang in Thailand got a house-call to make sure that they aren't up to no good.

It will be very difficult to keep them out when the gatekeepers are even bigger crooks ????

This sounds a very familiar line. I wonder if they have a script in the training manual? It will be just after the section on how to reduce local thugs killing each other.

… how Thailand manages to let in foreign criminals

Will this apply to Saudi Arabians? They already know one will visit later this year so they tell us.

Home grown criminals, some wearing uniforms or holding powerful positions are the main threat if he were an honest cop. One need only look at the long history of nepotism, cronyism, corruption and greed. The scale is off the charts.

matter here. Or does that refer only to members of the ruling party?

If only the assassins had killed the Canadian by smothering him with a plastic bag.  There would be no need for this charade.

Good Indians in,  bad Indians out.

Clean up your own house guys. You are known worldwide for your lack of competence and honesty. Please. Stop the nonsense. Do you think anyone buys it anymore?

You can't stop anything. You can't bring down traffic fatalities and you can't seem to bring many criminals to justice. Most consider you guys worthy of a laugh. That's about it.
