Daily News reported that the attack and robbery of the wife of German football superstar Mats Hummels took place not in Phuket but on the beach in neighboring Phang Nga.

Police said the attack on Cathy Hummels occured in the Khokkloi police jurisdiction on Na Tai beach near the Aleenta Hotel.

It happened last Saturday at 9 pm and police were on the scene within 10 minutes.

The victim left Thailand and assigned someone else to follow up on the investigation.

Witnesses reported seeing a disheveled woman but no blood following the attack that Ms Hummels said in a sports site interview was terrifying and made her fearful for her life.

Yesterday deputy RTP chief Gen Suchart Theerasawat went to the Khokkloi police station to coordinate operations with the local cops and tourist police.

Witness statements, checks on mobile phone shops and CCTV was all being done and an update was expected today (Friday) at 10 am.

It was discovered that an iPhone 12 Pro Max was stolen from Ms Hummels, whose husband Mats is a defender for Germany and center back for top Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund.

Daily News reported that charismatic cop and RTP advisor Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan was also getting involved in the investigation.

ASEAN NOW notes that the confusion over the attack happening in Phuket may rest in the name of the hotel that Ms Hummels was staying at - its full name is the Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga Resort and Spa.

BANGKOK, Feb 11 (TNA) – Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said he would apologize personally to Cathy Hummels, wife of a German national footballer Mats Hummels, for the assault and robbery that happened to her in the country.

The case hit the headlines when Ms Hummels, wife of the German footballer who was also the center-back of the Borussia Dortmund football club, told Germany’s well-known media Bild that she had been assaulted and robbed of her mobile phone during her visit to the country for her TV show production. She gave the interview after revealing the incident via her Instagram account.

Mr Phiphat said he would contact Ms Hummels to apologize in person to her and he ordered tourist police to arrest the culprit as soon as possible for the confidence of tourists in Thailand.

"Phiphat said he would contact Ms Hummels to apologize in person"

......which means a nice jolly all the way to Germany in a nice hotel with shopping for his wife, autographs of Mr Hummel's for his kids and a group photo for the Thai media because Mrs Hummel's surely will never visit Thailand again.

what a nice gesture.. apologizes.....how about the damage to the country that is already suffering because tourists are not coming anymore?? Stealing can and will happen all over the world, but the population should be aware in these times that everyone needs to promote Thailand. So leave the tourists alone and smile ..That will be good for everyone

Could well be the location that this "reality show" was produced.

So later this year it will probably be on German commercial TV station RTL

They usually make a secret about their locations.

No, it means what it said in the article, he would contact her to apologise in person, i.e personally, that can be done in a phone call.

Mid 2000's sold wine to Aleenta Resort. Nice place but definitely isolated. Lone female walking the beach there not the best of ideas. I remember down the coast across the bridge Swedish ladies thought camping and topless sunbathing were a good idea, stabbed to death.

Seclusion is nice as opposed to a whopping Kata Beach crowd, but for the foreign ladies can be dangerous.

One news story said what she was working on.  Maybe you can find a copy of the whole story.

Not very good, considering how Thailand is trying to get tourists, especially the rich ones to

visit or return for multi visits to Thailand.  I do hope the phone can be tracked and the person

get a jail sentence.
