Thai Rath reported widespread damage in Khon Kaen  in the North East of Thailand yesterday evening as a 30 minute storm wreaked havoc.

The storm - packing high winds, rain and hail - seriously damaged the temple of Wat Sawang Nork in Chumphae.

After the storm monks assessed that 80% of certain areas including an archway and Buddhist images were damaged.

Provincial governor Somsak Jantrakul was mobilizing help for the affected areas where houses were damaged.

This also included parts of neighboring Chaiyaphum.

People were warned to stay away from the area and avoid standing under trees.

I saw this nasty dark red cell on the weather radar yesterday passing along highway 12 to the east.

I checked because it had darkened.

We just got some drizzle.
