Is a Thai citizen required to obtain a learner's permit while learning to drive? According to Wikipedia, the only requirement is that a person with a full license for 3 years accompany them. Any BMs have some first-hand experience with this? I'm looking to have my 17 year old daughter start driving.

Imo there is no such thing in Thailand,i see a lot of people show up to try for their license in a car driven by themselves.

Once they pass the test they are free to go onto the highways and byways and learn to drive.

I have taught a few Thai people how to drive and behave in traffic, most people never apply any of the rules they need to know to pass the exam.

Scary how some people drive here, for whatever reason.

If someone has a 5 year DL then they can teach your daughter to drive.

They are driving schools in many provinces.

I taught my daughter the basic and then sent her driving school.

Well they can't get a license until they pass there test in Thailand.

They need a driver accompanying them that has a 5 year Thai DL.

Schools seem to be the best way to go these days.
