Somchai said that he waded in in his underpants and was soon attacked by a large number of 'pling khwai'(literally buffalo leeches) and the smaller 'pling khem' (needle leeches) all over his legs. Worse was to come. One of the huge blood suckers actually went inside his bottom and he had to pull it out. Rescue services were called and he was taken to Pho Thong Hospital where doctors thankfully examined his rectum where no further leeches had entered.
