I dont run a hotel.

But my personal opinion is if there is no symptoms let them continue on with their lives, all this covid quarantine malarky is utter nonsense.

Well no ... they might pass it on to someone who dies. That's what quarantine is about. Asymptomatic doesn't mean non-infectious.

And yet before they took a test that can show a false positive there was no issue.

Go figure.

Antibiotics won't help against virus infections.

If my sinuses drain long enough, I'll get a bacterial infection in my lungs that will hold on for 4-6 weeks.  Antibiotics prevent that.

I don't stay in hotels but that is beside the point.

If the person is showing no symptoms I have no issue being in close proximity to them Happens at my work weekly.

And at the grocery store, and at restaurants, and... and...

Taking the next step, with the current Thailand testing at 25% positive, the idea that letting tourists in to spend money is more dangerous than going to the grocery store is ludicrous.  And keeping bars closed will prevent exposure...

It's already here.  It's all around.  Open up and let that tourist cash in.

Cash in on becoming Infected right?

No point at all in taking Amoxacilin. Its an antibiotic, Covid is a virus.

Yet certain conditions can become bacterial over time.  Only a true lab test can identify what it is but then here in Thailand you can walk in see a pharmacist explain what the issues are and out the door you go with the antibiotics......

Very true but the poster's daughter is in the early stages of Covid, so its pointless.

Some people get it mildly while others like myself and the GF were hit with a longer hanging on illness that as I said earlier we are still positive today albeit the line at the T is very faint but maybe by tomorrow night if we test again then instead of Friday morning we will be negative.  Still have no taste or sense of smell for me, GF still has the cough and phlegm but then its better then it was 5 days ago.  No rhyme or reason why it affects people so differently that's why those that make a mockery of it and say it is nothing but a cold are so wrong....

wish you a speedy recovery

And I think that's a good thing.  Here in the USA I have to spend $150, drive an hour, and sit in a waiting room for an hour to spend 2 minutes with a doctor to have him prescribe the same thing that has worked 20 times in the past 40 years.  I get a sinus infection, it drains into my lungs and causes bronchitis.  Without treatment, it hangs on for 4-6 weeks.  Antibiotics clear it up in a couple of days.  Doesn't matter that the sinus infection started out viral or allergies.  And that $150 doesn't mean I'm going to get a lab test.  That's reserved for cases where the antibiotics don't work.

In Thailand, I walked in, asked for antibiotics and walked out in 2 minutes, for $10 all in.

I have similar problem with sinus infections, it's chronic and had it for the past 40 years and the doctors told me the only solution was surgery which I always decline, when there is infection the "bad stuff" goes down to my throat and irritates it making me coughing, had some doctors given different types of medication, some work and some don't, what type of antibiotics do you use, thks BTW the last visit to an otorhino gave me a nose spray that seams to help and it's called  Nasonex

Switch the Paracetamol for ibuprofen and add vitamin B as well, tuck them both into bed and then jump the next flight to Pattaya.  You have the perfect excuse.

I just buy the antibiotics and ibuprofen by the carton.  Works out at about 20baht per sheet of 10.

GPs are a waste of time.  Especially here in Thailand.  If you are properly sick you will have to go to a specialist anyway.

A specialist really?  Last time I was ill and went to the ER, the GP on duty attended to me and I was then moved into a room where a staff doctor tended to me after being admitted.  The same with my daughter when she had pneumonia a few years back.  No specialists seen or visited.

Typically, I'd buy amoxicillin.  It was cheap and seemed to work.

I had the surgery to straighten my deviated septum and remove some nasal polyps, though I had that done at the recommendation of a sleep specialist (there's another thread on micro-sleep, which I discuss as narcolepsy. But that's in the Thai driver bashing forum, not the healthcare forum).  The surgery didn't work for the sleep problem and was marginal at preventing sinus infections.  But that's just my experience.

Nasonex is pretty spendy here at about $200 (my GP prescribed it but I declined it at the pharmacy when I saw the pricetag), so I use a generic version of Flonase for <$15.  It's not exactly the same, but it's a steroid spray and seems to work the same.  I used Nasonex in the past when my insurance covered prescription drugs, but on Obamacare, my deductible is $7000 a year before any coverage kicks in.  Yay, Obamacare...

Edit:  If I ever do get to that $7K deductible, I'll treat myself to Nasonex and all kinds of fancy schmancy tests and treatments because it's all supposed to be covered at 100%.

Why take Amoxicillin? Antibiotics don't work on a virus.

No but they are working on the UTI my GF came up with thanks to Covid and the Sinus infection that started just as I was clearing Covid.  Covid the gift that keeps on giving and therefore why long covid is an issue.

Last time I visit ER I had plenty of specialists attend to me over the next 72 hours whilst in ICU.

I guess it depends on the reason for the visit.

That it does, that it does....heart issues require a specialist, cancer requires an oncologist, a severed arm or fingers requires a specialist and so on....However, for most ailments requiring a trip into the ER a ER Doctor and then the ward GP is who you end up with most of the time unless a specialist is required.

Vitamin C works for me. 1000 mg every 4 hours till I feel better, and symptoms stop. Paracetamol works just fine too, why Ibuprofen?

It is one of a few medical issues that they have been seeing crop up

https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/1574082/coronavirus-uti-urinary-infection-symptom-covid19

URINARY tract infections can affect any part of the urinary system. UTIs can happen in the kidneys, the ureters, the bladder, and the urethra. They are usually caused by bacteria from poo entering the urinary tract. However, a recent study found that UTIs in the lower tract may be a symptom of COVID-19.

https://www.freepressjournal.in/mumbai/mumbai-uti-cases-surge-amongst-recovered-covid-19-patients

Mumbai has reported a surge in Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) amongst patients who have recovered from Covid-19, especially in the 20-60 age group. “UTI invites serious complications like inflammation of the kidney or even sepsis, if not tackled at the right time. Steroid treatment and uncontrolled diabetes are some of the common reasons for UTI in Covid-19 patients,”

My friend felt sick a week ago and took 4 APK test over 4 days.  Negative, positive, negative, positive.

Complete joke!

The third test kit is a positive test, any line no matter how light at the T means positive, so the first test was negative but the other 3 were positive.

Ibuprofen is a better drug for covid.  Also studies proving benefits of Vitamin B for covid.  They don't have the flu.
