Former Arsenal Player Arrested Over £600K Cannabis Smuggling from Thailand
Looks like he might be playing for a new team in front of a lot less fans in the near future. -

Rising Homelessness in the US Linked to Migrant Influx and Economic Pressures
So why are people homeless in NY? It's an awful situation that can befall anyone through not fault of their own, it is crucial that there are safeguards to help families to get housing they need. It's not just about housing, that's just one part, then there's living expenses.. When people fall on hard times the state should be there to bail them out. This is the humane thing and given that BILLIONS of dollars of taxes are collected why are these homeless not housed and given sufficient funds to live? -

Dry herb vape recommendation anyone?
Thanks for the detailed information. Very useful. About the 20 minutes - what I meant was that about 20 minutes after vaping it felt like the high is peaking. It lasted for over an hour, but the peak was shallow somewhat. I did 2 more 4 minutes sessions after that using the same load, last try was on 200c. So it lasts long enough but not high enough. As you wrote - it might be the weed (triple gorilla) which also in joints feels less than the Wedding Crusher or Mimosa. BTW - the guy at the shop said you can do 10-20 sessions on 1 capsule... -

Residence Certificate in Jomtien
I would ignore all advice on this forum and just go and ask the helpful staff yourself. The misinformation and confusion spread on this forum is shocking these days. It's neither office specific or first hand to be useful.- 1

Secured Credit Card at Bangkok Bank -- can people share their experiences?
Just some FYI since it's a little hard to come by official information from Bangkok Bank about secured credit cards. The Rep showed me the attached document to generally explain the process. I took a photo (sorry about the flash) of what she asked me to review. Spent a half hour signing stuff mostly in Thai, sometimes 4 signatures on one page. 🙄 They seem to want a Thai ID too like a DL because when I first tried at another branch my passport wasn't good enough and they asked me for a Thai Drivers License which I didn't have so they rejected me. So I went to a Thai Driving School and got one plus International permit. -

Australian Aged Pension
I believe it changed on the 1st July 2024 to 30%. See below. Now, I know what you would all like to think. You are an Australian citizen, so not a foreign tax resident, but they are two completely different things. No, the below is not just for the super rich Chinese investing in Australia, or Paul Hogan. In the future, the law will be for every Aussie deriving an income within Australia, who has been outside Australia for more than 183 days. I agree. I would rather be taxed for small in Thailand as a tax resident, than taxed for 30% in Australia, as a non resident. Interesting times ahead. Note below, from $0. No tax free threshold for non residents of Australia for tax purposes. Foreign resident tax rates 2020 to 2025 Foreign resident tax rates for 2019–20 to 2024–25. Foreign resident tax rates 2024–25 Taxable income Tax on this income 0 – $135,000 30c for each $1 $135,001 – $190,000 $40,500 plus 37c for each $1 over $135,000 $190,001 and over $60,850 plus 45c for each $1 over $190, -

Brace for a downpour: 42 provinces in for a wet and wild ride
That is not because of local rains. I live on the Mekong and rains have been mild this year. Not the case for China and they have opened there dams flooding towns down stream in Thailand. The Mekong is huge at the moment and another meter higher will cause lots of pain for many towns. -

Rising Homelessness in the US Linked to Migrant Influx and Economic Pressures
No I didn’t miss it, rather it doesn’t help jippy out of the hole dug he himself in his post I was responding to: So now that it’s clear jippy can’t deliver a single immigrant being provided accommodation in a five star hotel, let’s deal with your half truths regarding The Roosevelt ‘Hotel’. It’s no longer a hotel, it was a business fatality of the COVID recession in the hotel business and closed: https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/travel/article/roosevelt-hotel-new-york-closing-trnd NYC have since rented the closed former hotel as emergency temporary accommodation for migrants. Wrt your statement: “The broader and more important point is that illegal immigrants are being housed in, shall we say 'luxury', accommodation at taxpayer expense. While American homeless and poor are left on the street and in shelters.” NY is a bit more civilized about the matter: “It is our moral and legal obligation to provide shelter to anyone who needs it,” the city’s Department of Social Services said in a statement. “As such, we have utilized, and will continue to utilize, every tool at our disposal to meet the needs of every family and individual who comes to us seeking shelter.” https://fortune.com/2023/05/15/roosevelt-hotel-being-converted-to-shelters-in-the-face-of-an-expected-wave-of-asylum-seekers/
