My bf is going for his second tourist visa ( non resident visa.. I think its called) for Canada. He was granted the last one :o and we went to Canada for 6 weeks last July and are wanting to do the same again.

He lives in the South so last time he mailed in the visa application and went up to BKK for the interview. We will be in BKK for 4 days and we were wondering if he could apply in person and find out that day if the visa is granted or not. I have heard you can find out right on the spot and I have also heard you have to wait one day or come back for the interview.

Has anyone been through this lately?

I don't know for sure about the Canadian embassy but I suspect it is similar to the US. When my husband applied for his visa he was told to come back in a week, I emailed the embassy, told them we didn't live in Bangkok and was given an appt the next day.

Good luck. Should be easier the second time around :o

Mail in the documents and if there were no problems last time the chances are good he won't need an interview this time. Tell them what days you will be in Bangkok and ask that the interview (if needed) be held then.

First visas are a pain with them though. Hope this second one goes smoothly for you.

I wanted a visa for my girlfriend (now wife) to travel to Canada in 2003. I, she ddint even bother going with me, went to the Embassy. I had the visa issued the same day. BTW - I have always found the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok to be VERY helpful...... marriage documents, citizenship card for my son, passports etc.... cannot say enough that is poditive about their service.

Unlike some other Embassies in town........
