Bar owners are finding it hard to recruit Thai girls

Now that there seems that Omicron although very contagious, is not so life-threatening as previous viruses the regulations are slowly being relaxed and tourists are starting to return in small numbers.

In Pattaya which has perhaps had the toughest restrictions the entertainment industry has had two years of closures, limited trading hours, and hardly any income.

During this time, the local Town Hall decided it was a suitable time to rip up most of the city’s roads to lay new drainage systems and fiber optic cables.

Even the infamous Walking Street was basically dug up for at least 12 months.

Now at last clubs, bars, discos, and go-go bars are starting to trade again.

Speak to one go go bar owner who had just spent the downtime refurbishing their bar, I asked if the customers were coming back and spending.

He said they had had a busy first week however although they had a great lineup of girls, they were still looking to recruit more.

Apparently when many girls had returned during a previous lull in Covid regulations last year, had rented rooms and paid deposits only to find everything was forced to close again.

Many lost deposits and went back to their family homes and farms in the North.

Some of the smarter girls are now creating online blogs and videos with large followings in the thousands.

They can make more money in 24 hours through men taking paid for subscriptions than they could make dancing in a go-go bar for a month.

Others have now had to find regular work in factories and retail outlets or are helping their families on the farm.

So, trying to recruit girls to take a job with now guaranteed income down in Pattaya when the sex tourists are thin on the ground has lost its appeal.

Now that Europeans, Russians, Japanese and Korean tourists are not coming to Thailand, the TAT is encouraging Arabs and Indians to fill the gaps.

However, as you may know, many Thai girls do not want to go with Indian men for several reasons.

Therefore, as more go-go bars reopen, there will be a scramble to find beautiful girls who want to try to make a living in Pattaya’s nightlife.

Wow...look like written by one of the Asean member, just missing the trademark sharing straw joke! What a shame!!

Will the girls want to go back to working in bars ?

Some would have gone back to their village and gotton themselves a life there , job , kids , married or whatever .

Others would have continued their work using online sites for customers .

Others would have found alternative work  and the appeal of being a prostitute working in a bar may not appeal to any new girls entering the trade.

This may be the final nail in the coffin of Pattayas sex industry

A new generation looking for easy, lazy, well paid, work-party environments will eventually find their way back to Pattaya.  It will just take time as too many restrictions still exist and the Thai government can't stop changing their minds on whether to open or close or even serve alcohol.  For the girls, I imagine it's not worth relocating yet.

The game has changed. Those still in the game, if they have any brains at all, are offering their wares on Thai Friendly or elsewhere. Why go through the bar nonsense, rowdy drunks, etc. when they can get a few customers a day on the internet?

You may be right. Having said that, the online method has a fair bit of photoshopping and misrepresentation going on, by both girls and clients. Therefore, I think there will still be a demand for the bar scene, where a realistic assessment can be made, although perhaps not to the same degree.

A lot of them enjoy the party every night lifestyle.  Life in the village is boring in comparison.  It will come back, it will just take time and removal of restrictions.

Yes, get dressed up every night and get made up every night , haircuts and tarted up all costs money and then spend eight hours a night sitting in a bar hoping for a few drinks and/or  customer  , or don't go to a bar and contact customers online , saving money spent on clothes and make up and have the evening to yourself and the customer saves his barfine money and lady drink money and going to a bar doesnt seem that worthwhile anymore

I'm beginning to wonder if my favourite agogos will come back as before, as existing staff would have moved on, then who is going to train them, girls are pretty shy to start with if asked to dance naked.

Many girls are using Thaifriendly now but they get bored with that and likely to look for a bar, massage, gentleman club or agogo

If the tourist come back and they are many the girls will flock back to the bars. Now customers are not so many and for this reason they will stay away.

Yup.  Just like I was excited about sitting in long boring sales meetings and sucking up to butt munches who told awful jokes but happened to make buying decisions.

At least that's what I told them...

Oh, and they also told me I'm a very hansum man.

Usually it's friend bring a friend situation, and when the bar scenes will go back to normal and the bar's panthers will be back, girls will recommend their friend to join them, so it's a matter of time and more confident with the covid situation...

No there is not.  If a bar girl makes 1,000 a night that's 30,000 bht.  That's great !!! Better then working for some Thai loser who pays 10,000bht. Correct.  Smarts girls are making 60 to 100,00 bht a month.  I said smart.  Not pretty.

Apparently they are going to require people to wear sombreros rather than masks as more effective

Meanwhile, out here in the boonies the wife wont let me out of her sight as I am constantly assailed by returned bar girls offering me a 500 baht quickie.

That's funny, daily infections and deaths seem to be reaching the same numbers as the Delta variant, with the health service stating many are on ventilators and those are expected to rise?

She's in luck, bars have pivoted to being restaurants now.

Should have paid them a decent wage then, instead of a pittance to dance and entice customers and then let them pick one to take home later.

The girls got smart.

Many of the massage shops in the central area are bursting with girls they are packed in like Sardines.  The bars that are open there seem to have plenty.  The Soi 6 bars that are open have plenty places like Toybox and the surrounding bars are full of girls.

If someone claims they cannot find a girl in Pattaya or a place with girls they must be totally lame or blind.

I can only assume the fellas paying to watch a girl on a computer are so desperate living with their old fat controlling no sex wives in the UK or U.S. or where ever.
