Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028
Why in the hell is this “stuff” being shoved down out throats (in the name of progress)? We can’t do anything without staring at our “smartphones” for hours a day… With this digital society…and now especially AI taking over our thoughts and direction of “what is smart” will certainly lead the human race toward its own demise and obliteration! -

Dear Asean Forums, could you please do me the favour and delete my comments as well as my profile? I have tried contacting you, but I am then told to verify my e-mail, and when I does your website gives med an error message. Kind regards, Meow1990 -

Huge markup on imported foods. Why?
Whose website? Where is your source? Is it normal to copy and paste any old nonsense and claim it as fact? "KCG" is the big giveaway 😊 -

Trump Ad on Taxes Uses Deceptive Political Playbook
October 4, 2024 "In a classic example of how political ads mislead viewers by using out-of-context quotes, a TV ad from former President Donald Trump’s campaign cites the New York Times as saying Vice President Kamala Harris “is seeking to significantly raise taxes.” Period, end of sentence. The rest of that sentence in the Times said: “on the wealthiest Americans and large corporations.” There’s more context that was left on the cutting room floor. The ad twice features a clip of Harris saying, “Taxes are going to have to go up.” In the July 2019 event, Harris actually said, “Estate taxes are going to have to go up for the richest Americans.” ... The ad has aired in the swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada, according to AdImpact, a political ad tracking service. Nearly every citation in the ad is problematic. Soldiers in Lopburi camp hospitalised after severe punishment
If you require torture to train then two things may happen in theatre: one, live granade placed in your kit, stray round in your back or two, soldiers will not fight when required. -

Which state that Trump won in 2020 will he lose this time?
North Carolina? Possibly. I would check Texas and Florida, too. The inward migration from places like California to those two states makes things hard to determine, I think. Too, the abortion issue seems to have settled into the background right now. But I would expect a blitz during the last month of the election. -

Having kids when old
I was 45 and my wife 38 when our twins were born. The doctor scared the heck out of my wife by bringing up the fact that having a kid with an older parent can result in Downs Syndrome. Even just one parent. 45 was great and I was active with them until they moved to America for university at 17. Still can keep up with them, but perhaps not if I had had them 10 years later. We were shown this survey from Norway There appears to be an increase risk (perhaps 20 to 30%) of Down syndrome associated with older fathers, independent of maternal age effect. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1048652/#:~:text=There appears to be an,independent of maternal age effect. -

Corruption scandal hits the brakes: Thailand’s bus industry whistleblows dirty dealings
When I was watching the local news, I saw videos of the gas cylinders installed under the seating. I looked at the cylinders and told my wife that they were just like a ticking time bomb for sure - these were the legal extra installation! Now they have reported that the fire began from a leaking cylinder near the underside of the bus. Driver still had time to open emergency doors! Totally sickening! -

Huge markup on imported foods. Why?
From their website: "Premium pure butter and cheese. The original Australian brand. Number 1 brand for 7 consecutive years, originated in Australia since 1869 Allowrie has been making tasty and quality Dairy products from real cow's milk. KCG’s founders, very impressed with Allowrie' s quality & taste, started importing Allowrie to Thailand since 1970. The same standard has always been proudly upheld to ensure your delight of quality butter and cheeses." I agree some products can be made under licence. The results of which aren't always the same as the item.
