Daily News reported that Lt-Col Phitak Hormthong of the Tha Kham police went to a three story town house on Rama 2 Road, Soi 68 in the Samae Dam area of Bangkok after a stabbing resulted in the death of a man.

Dead on the third floor of a property rented by a contractor to house workers was 43 year old Rungrawee "Rung" Saengyotha.

He had two chest wounds and one to the abdomen inflicted by a knife. He had a gun attached to the back of his belt.

The assailant was at the scene with a 6 inch knife. This was 51 year old Chaiyaporn "Jim" Wannarak. He had head wounds for which he received first aid before being taken to the police station.

Jim said that he had been drinking with work colleagues when Rung stated sarcastically and with force that he was not working as hard as he should.

An argument ensued in which the younger man pistol whipped the older one.

He responded by using the knife he had with him.

Note to self: give Thai drinking parties a wide-berth.

Whoever coined the phrase, “Never bring a knife to a gun fight.”, apparently misspoke.

Drunk, high, angry, unstable, violent, overreactive, dangerous, vengeful, vicious and pea-brained. So many Thai males are made up of this perilous blend of bad qualities. :post-4641-1156693976:

Huh? He pistol shipped the guy, then calmly put the gun back in the holster, just in time for the guy to start stabbing him? Not impossible, as most would not try stabbing someone holding a pistol. But, something smells a little fishy here. And when that fish stinks, you gotta start questioning things!

Well any time you deploy a pistol and it doesnt involve every opponent receiving two heavy caliber center mass hits..... and you REMAIN in their company, stabbing seems the least of your worries

Terrible headline.  It makes it sound like the person who was stabbed was the one who was also pistol whipped.  Lose the "by" and will read correctly.

There's something a bit strange about this story.

Simple.  The gun man berated the knife man; knife man gave him some back; gun man belted him with the gun; knife guy backed down and apologised; things calmed down and gun man put his gun away and relaxed; time passed and everyone relaxed, except for knife man.  Knife man was stewing on the altercation for several minutes before getting a knife from the kitchen, calmly approaching gun man and stabbing him three time;  no chance for gun man to even reach for his gun.
