Popular Post Eleftheros
It looks like their actual freedom score actually went down from 54.78 to 50.15, but their world ranking went the other way, up from 137 to 115. That doesn't say much good about the state of the world...

Popular Post soi3eddie
Is that Thai press freedom to operate so long as they don't report anything that upsets those in power? Surprised they even got to 115. 2

Deformation laws have stopped many from speaking out.

Well, if that's not a reason to boast...???? Shame on those countries in 'blue' on the map, where the journalists can write whatever they want. Popular Post spidermike007
While one report may state things have improved, when was the last time you saw any sort of investigative report on corruption in the army, immigration, the police, customs or the border patrol? How about never? I am not talking about a superficial article about watches or Ferrari Joe. But, something a bit more meaningful and in depth? Granted, the art of investigative reporting is disappearing everywhere. But here it seems non-existent. And while we are at it, how about the complete abolition of the ridiculous and cowardly defamation laws? Call them out by name! moogradod
I have noticed that even very well know publications here (in English) are reporting with utmost care and as minimized as possible about subjects that attract otherwise a very high attention (the Ukraine war is one example) around the world. I seriously wonder why.
Moo 2
When Thailand will stop behaving like a Banana Republic and stop living in the past with old customs, traditions, monarchy, religion, etc... then only Thailand will develop. Living in the past does not take you anywhere.
