My brother in law has sent me a bill for 37000 Baht for his girlfriend who has Covid. He says she has to pay for Blood type B which they say that they do not have you have to pay for.. Is covid 19 free for all Thais on 30 Baht or not.?

LOL. Do you really want to pay for your brother-in-law's girlfriend? Never heard of blood transfusion when having Covid-19. But, as for the government health scheme, well, some Thais, who are covered by it, bought Covid-19  insurance...

Imagine marrying some women and having her brother send you a bill for his girlfriends medical issues. This entire thing is wrong before you even get in to the details of what this procedure actually has to do with COVID. Are you expected to pay for their entire extended family too anytime one of them gets sick?

I am unable to post the bill from my phone - I don,t have anyway to do that. The bill has a large circular stamp in the middle of the bill saying MOPH - does that mean the MOPH  will be charged the bill or do all gov hospitals stamp  have that ? He says she had to go to a private room as they were full. She is just lying in a nice bed and just has an oxygen mask on. Surely they would have said as we are full your choice is a field hospital, a hosptiel or you pay for a private room.

I broke up with a long term TGF years ago. Recently her sister contacted me, saying the former GF was in jail and needed 1 million baht to get out. I contacted the GF who said she wasn't in jail, had no idea why sister would tell me that.

I don't know why this comes to mind.

My wife has had some blood transfusions over the years (not Covid related), She is type B, always covered by the 30 baht scheme.

Yes, both transfusions and COVID care are covered.

Story does not make sense.

None of this makes the least bit of sense.

As stated, COVID care is free and that would include private room if no ward space. (If the private room is patient's own choice then that is different. In a government hospital that would be 800 - 1500 extra (the full cost minus what the ward would cost).

This changing of story (first: have to pay because of blood type; second: have to pay because of private room) is typical. If you object again on the private room grounds they'll come up with yet another story.
