her boyfriend blowing in her mouth

Too much information

I agree, we need a timeline.

The above could have been the cause.

Was it 3 hours before the beer or 3 hours after the blowing?

The production of acetaldehyde happens naturally every time you drink alcohol. It is the normal way the body metabolises alcohol. There is no real scientific evidence that eating durian has any effect on this process.

The amount of extra acetaldehyde you would take in from eating foods that contain natural acetaldehyde in small amounts, ripe fruits,  cheese and so on is trivially small compared to the acetaldehyde your body can make after drinking alcohol in large amounts.

This university doctor is making the logical mistake  "post hoc ergo propter hoc", that is if one event happens after another event you falsely assume the first event caused the second. [I ate a muffin, then three hours later I broke my leg, so eating muffins causes your legs to break.]

Without scientific evidence this university doctor's statement is just an un-evidenced assertion, based on his cultural assumptions. What would have been his diagnosis if the same woman came in with these symptoms without having eaten Durian and why would he think none of those possibilities applied in this case?  How did he ascertain the woman wasn't having a seizure from natural causes? How did he try?

Illogical, incomplete and unscientific thinking.

Americans drink beer that looks like water with a head of foam on it, and pork ribs that are more fat than meat..

Q: Why is American beer like having sex in a rowboat?

A: Because it is <deleted> so close to water

In a video she was semi-conscious, with her eyes rolling in her head and her boyfriend blowing in her mouth in a desperate attempt to keep her awake.

The words "blowing in her mouth" needs clarification here.  Was he trying to unload one last time before she dies?

This happened to me once.

I haven't eaten muffins since.

Durian, LomYai it's a fruit and us Aussies don't eat fruit when drinking alcohol, there you go learn from the Aussies, EAT FRUIT RESPONSIBLY.

What no cherry or pineapple in the Bundaberg punch!

You are correct, 'Punch', brings back alot of memories, many great memories, wonderful memories.

I even have a few memories of previous girlfriends, out of their mind after drinking punch, ending up in the state below.

So, there you go the Professor/University Doctor is right, regarding fruit eating and drinking alcohol.

I've heard this before but ignored it. Maybe I should pay attention to the science in future.

Waiting to see a film in the Odeon Leicester Square in London long ago, I bought a durian in Soho's Chinatown to eat later. I had it tightly double wrapped in two plastic bags, one over another, seemed airtight. After a while on my seat, you could smell it two rows forward and back. Luckily daytime cinema, and hardly anyone in. ????

Same here.

I picked this girl up from coconut bar on beach road, took her to the cinema, you could smell her 2 rows up and down.

Same, same but different.

Next time I'll try wrapping her in a couple of plastic bags, thanks for the tip.

Durian ice cream

On my first visit to SE Asia the 'shoestring guide' described Durian as .. eating your favourite ice cream when sitting on the toilet

If you don't eat food that smells the problem can be avoided.

Durian ice cream

A five star hotel in Singapore had it on their Sunday brunch buffet once. I was really surprised. Not as strong an aroma as the fruit itself, but the lady I was with has a very sensitive nose, she actually picked it up from across the restaurant.

I have had 3+ times Thai doctors telling me not to eat any meat with wings to aggravate gout. Total bs and I wouldn’t be surprised If the durian and alcohol is the same
