WASHINGTON – The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack heard riveting testimony Thursday from a police officer wounded in the attack and broadcast to a prime-time audience video of a meeting between men charged with seditious conspiracy.

The committee also outlined subjects it will cover in a series of June hearings, including former President Donald Trump's pressure on Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election and his attempt to replace his attorney general.

...

• Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., vice chair of the committee, charged that Trump “oversaw and coordinated a sophisticated 7-part plan to overturn the presidential election."

'Checked out': Trump rebukes Ivanka over Jan. 6 testimony

Former President Donald Trump on Friday discounted his own daughter’s testimony that the 2020 presidential election results were not fraudulent.

“Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results. She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!),” Trump posted on Truth Social, the social media platform he helped found.

Trump’s rebuke of his daughter comes on the heels of Thursday’s Jan. 6 select committee hearing, where lawmakers showed recorded interviews with Ivanka Trump, former Attorney General William Barr and Trump campaign advisers testifying that the former president had indeed lost the 2020 election.

Republicans Respond to January 6 Hearings by Defending Trump

No remorse, no accountability

...

The committee’s implicit request was that conservative Republicans who may have voted for Trump at least denounce the most heinous final stage of his coup, when the president was refusing to call in any defense of the besieged Capitol and telling his aides that Mike Pence deserved to be lynched. Their response arrived in real time: They do not believe Trump or his minions should be held accountable.

So what will be the potential outcome of this US TV prime time committee hearing extravagance if Trump is clearly shown to be the main ringleader in these riots ? Will he just be allowed to carry on with his untrue rhetoric/lies or could he face a criminal prosecution ?

Rudy Giuliani, Trumps lawyer who was suspended from practicing law in New York state due to his “demonstrably false and misleading statements” about the 2020 election is once again facing disciplinary action as the Washington DC Bar Slaps Rudy Giuliani With Ethics Charge Over Election Fraud Claims.

The D.C. Bar alleges that Giuliani violated Pennsylvania’s Rules of Professional Conduct when he “brought a proceeding and asserted issues therein without a non-frivolous basis in law and fact.”
The filing also noted there was no “legal basis” for the former mayor’s claims in the lawsuit he pursued in Pennsylvania alleging voter fraud for former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

She is an old-school Republican.  I disagree with her on many issues, but I respect her integrity and trust her not to ruin the country.

Rudy is the new-school Republican:  No firm beliefs, no integrity, totally opportunistic and gives the US public, or at least the Trump base, no credit for intelligence.

The J6 currently airing on cable news in America is not an investigation? Investigation is complete I always thought and this is a hearing, It's a one sided made for television infomercial read from teleprompters. Nothing naughty about it, and I state the crimes must be adjudicated accordingly. In that vein I look for impartial, partisan presentations. We will see where the evidence leads us. However I will go on record as saying the prosecutions are limited now and unlikely any further noteworthy charges will be brought against some media generated players or Trump and his group unless benny J brings the goods during the televised production over the next week. I highly doubt though there is much more the J6 committee has left in the bank to prosecute.

I don't want Trump running again anyway.  As a conservative, he never was my choice.  But then because I don't support one of the Two-Party Duopoly, any candidate I'm interested in is lucky to get on the ballot in my state.

Yep - it is a circus.

Before January 2021, I didn't even know there was a law on the books called "Parading."  That concerns me more than pretty much anything else.  So what other laws can I be put into prison for without knowing I was breaking a law?  ????

It's considered a federal offense (title 18): this list is some of the typical charges resulting from J6:

"Federal: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building or Grounds; Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building"

There are hundreds of parading charges stemming from the J6 riot.

"More than 600 individuals have been accused of entering or remaining in the restricted Capitol grounds, the most common crime alleged so far, which carries a maximum sentence of 1 year in prison and a $100,000 fine at the misdemeanor level."

"picketing" also is a federal title 18 offense. But, i think parading, picketing charges seriously undermines some of the violations seen during J6.

If any of this would have happened in many other countries then the traitor would have be in jail or hanged.

In America he is still running around free. And there is a possibility that he will run to be president again and there is a possibility that he win that election.

What a totally <deleted> up country!

When George W Bush was president many of us couldn't believe that Americans voted for that guy. And we basically all agreed that it can't get worse. It did, a lot, and it seems that is far away from the bottom.

Not all criminals are stupid. Not all greedy people are stupid.

There are some people who make a lot of money with Trump in charge. And some of them only care about money and power. The country? Who cares?

Unfortunately he's not wrong.

and I thought we all knew that already, the committee just confirmed it, I was expecting the committee to advise for his immediate lock up pending final findings

I will say yes to that.

People are complex.

The late Ben Carson was a brilliant brain surgeon and rabid Trump fan.

The committee doesn't have that power. You see, in a functioning democracy (and the US still is that despite Trump's best efforts) that power belongs to the Justice Department.

Anything else you're confused about just ask.

In a perfect world it should make a difference, as long as you have evidence. If you can recall certain liberal law makers hollered up and down all day every day about all the concrete evidence of the Russian conspiracy against Trump only now this "evidence" is showing the real culprits in the Russia investigation, and it ain't Trump or anyone in is group or they would all have incurred the same wrath as R Stone and P Navarro recently experienced. Need some evidence, all the J6 bluster airing on cable news outlets aside, if J6 committee had it Trump and others would be behind the pipes.

They can hardly say Rupert told me not to report on it.
