Thai policeman sentenced to 50 years on bribery conviction

A police officer has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after he was found guilty, by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, of demanding and taking bribes, totalling 641,000 baht, from a soapy massage parlour in Bangkok.

Mask mandate cancellation and hours extension of entertainment venues to be considered by Thailand’s National Covid-19 Center next week

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has initially introduced a proposal for the cancellation of the mask mandate to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA). The proposal will be considered at the general meeting next week, June 17th, CCSA Director Suphot Malaniyom told the press today, June 10th.

Govt to Give Away 1 Million Cannabis Plants

BANGKOK, June 10 (TNA) – Deputy Agriculture Minister Manunya Thaiseth said the Department of Agriculture will give two cannabis plants to each household or altogether 1 million plants. Registration for the free plants will start on June 16.

Chinese Firm Given 60 Days To Confirm German Engine For S26T Sub

A CHINESE SUBMARINE builder is being given a 60-day timeframe to officially confirm whether or not a German-made engine will be installed aboard the Yuan-class S26T submarine currently being built for the Thai navy and an exact delivery date for the boat, said navy spokesman Vice-Adm Pokkhrong Monthatpalin today (June 10).

Thailand's May consumer inflation rose to the highest level since July 2008. The Ministry of Commerce attributed the CPI growth to higher food prices and energy costs.

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) notified police about the announcement issued by the Ministry of Public Health, which was published in the Royal Gazette and goes into effect on June 9. Removal of cannabis from the Category 5 narcotics list legalizes its production, import, export, distribution, consumption and possession.
