EricTh Posted June 25, 2022 Share Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) There is an account in Krungthai bank for 1.5% but I heard it's only for Thai citizens, can anybody confirm. @JimmyJ 1.5% is definitely the highest in Thailand right now. Is the account in the name of a thai? A lot of people state that it is restricted to Thai citizens....some of them also work for SCB. But... they're wrong. I'm way too tall, can't speak or write Thai, and way too light skinned to be mistaken for a Thai but they gave me an EZ Savings account anyway. Initially they did say a work permit was required but they did listen to my suggestion to call their support line to get SCB's actual policy. I can think of a couple of situations where the bank account is preferable. Deposits to meet Thai Immigration requirements, short term safe keeping of funds to be used for upcoming expenses such as building a house.
