Could give this a shot. Walking distance of Bang Chak BTS. They get up in there and work some magic, supposedly. Well reviewed with a long queue of bookings. I'd try it if I still lived in BKK, with the wife being unaware. ????

I have personally been in quite a large number of upcountry hospitals and I am thoroughly familiar with the Thai public health system, first hand. In fact I frequently assist and escort friends, relations, friends-of-friends etc from neighboring countries to seek care in Thai government hospitals, including up-country hospitals where appropriate.

 

The reports I refer to are detailed, factual, private accounts specific to  TURP outcomes. 

 

As for your experience, without details as to what exact procedure was done  and with what technique, it is not possible to tell if it is even relevant to the subject (TURP).

Well, big "pow wow" at the clinic next thursday. All "preliminary". After 1 week, the medics will offer me different procedures (avenues). Tailor made to my needs. Although my needs are rather modest. I would like to pee less and like to to have more of some sort of Sex again. Time will tell. Is it too much to ask?

I am just curious, with what kind of remedy some of the highest paid medics (Switzerland) come up with.

It is not too much to ask, just make sure your doctors know it is important to you (some men your age are no longer sexually active, so don't assume they will know this).

In my painless case performed through a catheter I do not see any much reduction of my sexual activity, despite my advanced old age. Of course, the ejaculation is discharged inside the bladder.

A report of such tour would be very useful for TV members having to live here and suffer for rest of their life.

I did find one highly qualified and very experienced urologist in CM who specialized in TURPs and I believe he still does. As mentioned previously in this thread, I wound up getting a HoLEP done in the U.S., but this Thai practitioner operated on a close Thai friend of mine who sang high praises regards this same surgeon.  He operates his own clinic plus he is on the staff at Bangkok Hospital - Chiang Mai.  I believe that I am not allowed to disclose his name on the Forum (?) but you can PM me (via Line) and I’ll be happy to share.

A week later i visited a different hospital and the elderly doctor said i had DRY EYE !   A little tube of gel which sells for 120 baht solved the problem in a few days.

Hi. I am the OP. Here a little follow-up.
I had the Prostate "Water Vapor Surgery" on August 24. (A low invasive procedure, I was told). THE AFTERMATH: Excrutiating pain while urinating for 2 weeks. My "noises" while urinating was cause enough for my next door neighbors to offer to call medical emergency services. Henceforth, I used a pillow to muffle my "noises" while urinating. Experiencing the "pain of my life". This is not an exaggeration! Somewhat better now, I don't need my pillow-muffler anymore while urinating.

I therefore urge anyone considering this "Low Invasive procedure" to do the following:

- Ask the clinic/hospital for contacts of patients that have undergone this procedure before. Ask those people how they fared after this "Low Invasive Procedure". If hospital is not willing or able to provide opinions of former patients, do not let them "perform" on you!

Do some homework before. If I would have known before, I would not have undergone this "Low Invasive Procedure", so far giving me only "the pain of my life". Possible positive effects only to be noticed 2 to 3 months after surgery. If at all.

I must express strongly that just because Bumrungrad has a HoLEP laser, it doesn’t mean that their surgeons are proficient in the technique.  It takes years of operative experience to operate the laser proficiently. Think of the HoLEP as an optically assisted, microsurgical technique in which the surgeon uses a specialized laser tool to blast away (enucleate) all of the pulp, seeds, and connective tissue inside of a lemon while leaving the peel untouched.  The ‘peel’ in this case is the prostatic capsule that needs to be left unharmed.  As the operation progresses, all this enucleated tissue is placed in the bladder.  The surgeon them morcellates (grinds up) this debris using a microscopic grinding tool and then evacuates it out through the catheter.   It’s an extremely delicate procedure that requires hundreds of operations to thoroughly master. Most urologists who practice HoLEP have studied under a highly experienced teaching surgeon and thus gained valuable insights on how to use the equipment, minimize any potential unwanted side effects and how to best prepare the patient for a successful, pain-free post-operative experience. 

 

I underwent my HoLEP at The Mayo Clinic and everything went perfectly well.  18 hours post-surgery, my catheter was removed and I was able to urinate like a teenager again with only very minor discomfort.  This discomfort was a very temporary effect caused by bruising of my urethra by the Foley catheter used during surgery. For the following two weeks I experienced minor bleeding caused by blood clots that were passed through the urethra during urination. It took my bladder muscles another 4-6 months to retrain and recalibrate due to the sudden lack of any constricting obstruction that I’d lived with for the preceding decade. 

The decision to undergo prostate surgery of any type is not an easy one, but I wholly recommend HoLEP because of its very high success rate and minimal post-operative problems. Good hunting and caveat emptor!
