Planned 59-baht maximum fare on BTS extensions opposed

Thailand’s Consumer Council (TCC), a non-profit consumer protection network, has voiced its strong objection to the planned 59-baht maximum train fare for the two extended routes of the BTS sky train system, or Green Line, claiming that the maximum fare should not exceed 44 baht.

Bangkok’s MRT Blue Line fares frozen until year-end

Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) has agreed to freeze fares on the Blue Line of the metro system, or the MRT, currently between 17 and 42 baht, until the end of the year, despite a cabinet decision yesterday (Tuesday) to allow the company to increase the fare by one baht, in line with the consumer price index (CPI).

MEA Pays Compensation to Sampheng Fire Victims

BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) – The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) on Wednesday initially paid compensation to some vendors affected by a blaze that was allegedly sparked by a power transformer in Bangkok’s Sampheng market.

Protests greet PM in Chiang Mai, over 2,000 police provide protection

More than 2,000 police were deployed to provide protection for Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha when he visited Chiang Mai province today (Wednesday), but the sheer force of both uniform and plainclothes officers failed to stop the protests.

Bangkok Proposes Budget for Scout Uniform Procurements

Nearly 60 tonnes of suspect smuggled pork impounded in Nakhon Pathom

Thailand’s Livestock Development Department has impounded about 59 tonnes of pork, suspected to have been smuggled into the country, at a cold storage facility in Nakhon Pathom province today (Wednesday).
