Airport director leads tributes to heroic diver "Ja Sam" on anniversary of Tham Luang cave rescue bid

Wouldn't a shrine and ceremony at the cave be more relevant?

But then it would not it be the Minister of the Interior who would lead the ceremony and not the Airport Director? Part of the role of the MoI is emergency management, ie., within Thailand lands.

or it's just PR operation form a half-employed, half-qualified political party nominated director, who doesn't know what to do with his working time and needs to fill his hours with meaningless activities?

A lot of this goes on in the corporate sector too.

I organised an important training programme for some of my key staff that involved visiting an industrial work-site so they could gain experience and knowledge of operations in that sector.

It was turned into a working lunch by one of the Thai directors who decided to take marketing and HR along because female.

The guys that needed the experience never got it.

A waste of time and effort.

But a lot of self-congratulatory back-slapping and they brought sandwiches back to the office. ????‍♂️

For decades one of the mainstrem banks organized various training programs every yearmostly to do with al operating efficiencies, international methoologies, new technology and banking processes which led to foreex gains etc. All very valuable for the bank and for the development of the staff actually working in these fields.

All those who attended such programs were much older snr., staff who were close to retirement, most had no working connection to and no knowledge whatever of the subjects involved.

They were nominated as a thank you for their long service to the bank.

navy seal dies in cave rescue near Birma border, and director of the airport 700km away holds memorial ceremonies?

no, his death was not heroic in any sense, it was just tragic. An accident, a freak one. Probably happens at BKK airport every year, just not reported in the media.

How this death is connected to aviation industry?

Who took the jam out of your doughnut?

He had connections to the airport, so why can't they remember and honor him?

his last employment was an airport guard where he volunteered to go to the cave rescue, he's also a well known figure at the airport cycle track greeting visitors and is often seen out on patrol on his bike too. I think they might have a statue of a plaque dedicated to him there too, so he's seen as a 'local hero' for the airport staff

is his death preventable had he not ventured where he doesn't have the skills for? that's a better discussion
