Take Wimbledon the tennis tournaments and how the British players are given centre court when they aren't always the best players at that time in the tournament. Clearly can only work on walk in customers …. Who will promptly walk out and book www online (which they should have done in the first place). 
 

no Govt can or will control any aspect of the international vacation lettings/  hotel market websites online where prices & terms are exclusively between website / buyer/ seller. No possible or permitted Govt market interference. ????

Ludicrous Idea from civil servant types who’ve no idea how commerce works. As made plain by reference to “ pre- Covid prices” ! Market has moved on in last two years and still shifting from market forces. Algorithms used now to set many prices daily. No human can keep track of all the variables. Don’t expect Govts to understand this but they just need to stay out !????

You appear to fall into  the delusion that if your argument is refuted then it can only be because someone can’t understand it. Perhaps you can quote examples here of all those that you imagine understand and agree with your point of view? Though I suspect you are something of a Walter Mitty character.

Yeah, like that Thai family at Yellowstone park who crossed over a very low restricted area barrier and tramped on virgin ground to get a closer look at one of the hot pools.  Folks were yelling at them to get out, and it almost came to the point of a fist fight with one of the Thai sons.  People were just telling them that the crust around the pool was fragile and if they broke through, they would be boiled alive.  It's happened before.

Big sister returned to the house in a tuk tuk. When asked about the location of the car she had stolen she said 'it's damaged, can't drive it'. The young man who rented the car quickly called the car rental company, they called the police. Police and rental mngr turn up at the house quickly and young man who had rented the car told he has to pay about 20000Baht for the damage to the car. Family turn to 'big sister' who refuses to acknowledge any responsibility and insists that car rental companies are all thieves and scammers. Snr. cop tells his men to take 'big sisters' car to pay part of the money now due to the rental company and orders 'big sister' to be locked up. Ten days later 'big sisters' husband has been able to borrow the remaining money owed to the rental company. Snr. cop instructs that all of the families ('Big sister' and husband, plus the young man who rented the car and his parents) to report to the police station. Snr. cop orders 'big sister' to 'grap' to all present (lie on the ground and apologize). She refuses and insists she had done nothing wrong and proceeds to seriously abuse the snr. cop. She's fined a further 5,000Baht (which station chiefs can do) and does 3 more days in jail. When she comes out she demands the young man who initially rented the damaged car rent another car and pay for the car to take her back to her home town. Snr. cop intervenes and tells her to take a bus. 

 

This is just one of many incidents this nasty woman has generated. Nowadays the whole family ensure they are nowhere near her and have told her she is banned to come to their homes. And her husband has put notices / statements in local newspapers refusing to accept any debts that she incurs. 

Same 'woman' makes up laws as it suits her. She's been fined a number of times for going through red lights.

 

Most recent case police caught her, lights had changed to red 2 seconds earlier. Cops stop her, she abuses the cops and tells them they don't know the law. She claims that if a person is employed in any job in the government that person and all their relatives are entitled to take 3 more seconds to go through traffic lights. 

 

Cops take her to the local police station. Snr. copy tells her there is no such law and cannot be because it's just illogical and dangerous. She abuses the snr. cop and tells him he should make his staff clean the office every day and she starts to give orders to cops present where they should clean, sweep, mop etc. Snr. cop confiscates/cancels her licences for life (she's already got a list of driving offences as long as your arm) and fines her 10,000Baht.

 

She still drives wherever she wants to go. But always alone, her family and extended family and her friends refuse to get in her car is she's going to drive.

I would imagine it would be really unpopular in more expensive hotels if a foreigner is charged more than a Thai driving a BMW, Merc or Porsche. That would be even more so if the foreigner lived here as they would be aware of how much those cats cost here.

It doesn't say if the higher pricing applies if to those of us who live here. At one time if you had a Thai driving licence you were treated as Thai but that's not the case anymore. 

There's also the problem of how this will work with booking sites like Agoda. Will they have to ask your nationality? I can't see them being keen to implement what is basically racism on their sites just to please Thai politicians.

That very much what I was thinking. Sounds pretty complicated to me. Would it apply to breakfast as well since that is often included. I can't see how it's going to work with booking sites either.

In high school we used to take small nails (the kind that look like small pins without the head) from wood shop class and drop them into the door lock hole when nobody was looking, usually for classes that started at 8:30 am the next morning.

 

The class would get cancelled because the locksmith would need to come in the morning to change out the entire lock when the teacher tried to unlock the door.

 

The funny thing about it is you can't tell why the door won't work. It just feels like you have the wrong key.

Yes she has a long-term Thai hsband who is a total wimp, and she abused him continuously. She also has a son, but he ran away from home at about 6 years old (2 Km) to stay with grandma, and his mother has never made any attempt to bring him home, to celebrate his birthdays, never contributed one Baht to his education, clothes, bicycle etc., He's almost finished his bachelor degree in engineering, mother doesn't even know he's at uni. He found a part-time school hols job with EGAT at about 15 years old, worked with them every semester break since and has been offered a full-time job when he graduates. His wonderful grandma and grandpa have loved and supported him (incl., financially) and enouraged him every day of his life.
