Healthcare scheme Gold Card holders and people on social security who test positive for COVID-19 via rapid antigen tests, can seek free medical services at the health centres or hospitals at which they have registered, according to the public relations office of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

Gold Card holders are also entitled to receive medications at drug stores which have joined the “Found, Distribute, Done” scheme, said the office. A list of the drug stores can be checked via the QR code from BMA’s public relations office.

Government officials are entitled to medical services under the government-sponsored healthcare security scheme. If theyhave any problem getting access to medical care, they can contact any state-run hospital.

So PR also can't apply for it?

Thai citizens don't have to apply for it. They're in the system automatically if they are not covered by social security or government employee's insurance. Same used to be for PRs in the past. The actual gold card that was issued in the past no longer exists and it is connected to the Thai ID card. I don't know how it works for PRs now.

Are foreigners on long-term visa allowed to apply for this Gold Card?

Do you mean 1 year visa?

It's a good idea to work as an English teacher, or another job,

for a year, then youcan continue with your social security for life, if you are over 50.

Yes, I am over 50. Unfortunately, most schools prefer younger teachers, I am too old for that.
