A 64-year-old British man drowned after falling into a canal while reportedly stretching on a bridge after exercise.

Na Jomtien police traveled to the Na Jomtien canal in the Na Jomtien subdistrict of Sattahip, Chonburi, on Sunday, July 17th, after being notified that the body of a British elderly man was found in a canal.

According to reports, the body belonged to Mr. Richard Wayne Moorcroft, a 64-year-old British tourist who resided in the area. He was discovered in a knee-deep canal, wearing a green polo shirt, green shorts, and black sneakers while carrying only a driver’s license. The victim reportedly sustained no injuries nor signs of an attack.

Thailand--- Hub of convenient falang deaths!!

I am sure this case will be closed as an accident just like all other foreigners's death cases are.

Regular jogger so likely fit and healthy who always runs the same route just happened to dive over a guard rail and then drown in knee height water?! <deleted>.

Perhaps a 63 year old can be described as young old .

Not so much of an accident as natural causes by the sound of things. There will be an autopsy.

Not that elderly really......

I dare say the autopsy will reveal he was hit by a pick up or something

If there is any THC in his bloodwork you know that will get the blame.

I wonder how many jabs he had (and what brand). ????

Is a 64 year old man considered "elderly" in Britain?

Wouldn't even qualify for a Senior discount in America. ????

It may have been just that, unless you know more about the situation n

You should watch some of the UK hospital programs, you might be surprised how many so called healthy and fit people, particularly in that age group collapse suddenly when exercising and often die.

if your are in Thailand, - you probably are..more youthful attitude to older guys here than the 'walking dead' back in the UK I saw every day...

Hey ... slow down, let's not rush things.

I'll hit 68 at the end of this year, and just hoping I make it to life expectancy when born. Parents only made it 69 & 74 (mother), drinkers & smokers.  So I should do a bit better.

Seems to be a lot of guessing after 2007, especially if born recently ... 80's

So if making it to 65, we could be good for another 13 yrs, if reading correctly.

after being notified that the body of a British elderly man was found in a canal.

You are right, the persons that found the body should be blamed for not checking his age first with a quick visit to his home and looking at his passport, then consult you on the correct adjective to use, then finally inform the police.

And when you are 75 old-old?

I ask it for a friend.

Very sad. Probably never know what happened.

Could have leaned over the rail for a quick rest and had a heart attack. Could have been hit by a truck and tossed over the side.

I had a schoolfriend in the UK. At age 21 he sat on the wall of a small bridge on the way back from a country pub, lost his balance, fell backwards about 10 feet down and broke his neck and drowned in 2 feet of water.  I suspect a similar thing happened here.

RIP fella.

Surprised to read a pretty Fit  jogger falls into a canal and drowns

I am no doctor but a heart attack or blackout could be to blame

RIP
