Thai Rath reported on a horrific head on collision between a pick-up and a car at a crossroads in Surin, NE Thailand last night that left one female teenager dead and two women injured.

The deceased was the daughter of one of the drivers.

Sangkha police and rescue services arrived at the Ban Lert Arun crossroads on the Sangkha to Surin Road where they found a Toyota Vigo pick-up with its front smashed in and nearby off the road an almost completely destroyed Mitsubishi car.

Somjit, 43, from Surin, driving the Toyota, was taken to Surin Hospital with chest and head injuries.

Two people from Surin had to be cut out of the Mitsubishi. The driver was Suphaporn, 54, who was seriously injured and was taken to Sangkha hospital then transferred to Surin Hospital.

Beside her in the front passenger seat was 19 year old Suphatra, the driver's daughter. She was deceased.

The media said that the accident happened in rainy and slippery conditions.

A witness reported seeing the car heading towards Sangkha district before the head on collision.
