What happened in the intervening 20 days when it went up in flames I wonder. He just accused those that pay them of playing fast and loose with public safety while not mentioning those who directly benefit from receiving these backhanders. Yet I think your post was the first among many in multiple threads here to recall the similar but much more deadly fire at Santika. Lots of apparent similarities between the two cases, years apart. Not surprisingly, just goes to show that all the official puffery about inspections and enforcement is pretty much just for show, and then ends up being ignored thereafter... So the same kinds of things can happen here in Thailand again and again and again.... And ditto with multi-story hotels and condo/apartment buildings where the fire exits are locked and/or obstructed, which likewise keeps occurring with numerous fires.
