Foodpanda Shutting Down
Laptop for me. I don't know how people live on their phones. Phone apps are crap, minimal info, annoying to negotiate, adds blocking half the screen, and screw trying to type on that little keyboard. If using speech to text, need to proof read & correct. I need a mouse and a full size keyboard. I didn't teach myself to type, so I could type with 1 finger. NO THANKS -

The apps do have a lot of competing pressures of course. Attracting drivers with enough pay to make such a rough job worth it. Attracting restaurants while forcing them to cut their margins to pay them. Attracting customers with good enough service, and attractive enough incentives to encourage frequent usage. It's definitely not an instant minting money concept. I do know in the US now paying for delivery is more of a luxury item than an everyday thing. In Thailand it's much more of everyday thing, with people of all classes using it frequently even for very small orders. I hope it can remain that way. -

Report Celebrating Rome and Bangkok: A Thai-Italian Tourism and Cultural Extravaganza
The audience at Siri Sala Private Thai Villa listening to the Panel discussion On April 21, the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC), in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), hosted a grand celebration event to honour the historical founding dates of Rome and Bangkok. Held at the picturesque Siri Sala Private Thai Villa in Bangkok Noi, renowned as one of the filming locations for the third season of "The White Lotus," the event was a vibrant celebration of two capitals, highlighting a unique historical coincidence: Rome's founding in 753 BC and Bangkok’s establishment in 1782 AD. The event served as a pivotal platform for strengthening cultural and economic ties between Thailand and Italy, drawing a distinguished assembly of destination management companies, hoteliers, travel agencies, institutional representatives, media, and influencers. The gathering showcased the rich partnerships and mutual admiration shared between the two nations, aiming to enhance cooperation in tourism and hospitality. A moment of solemn reflection marked the beginning of the evening, as attendees paid tribute to the late Pope Francis, underscoring the deep cultural bonds and shared moments between nations. Following this, the event delved into its central programme with a compelling panel discussion titled "Bridging Cultures Through Tourism – Thailand & Italy in Focus." This discussion featured four renowned expert speakers who shared insights and explored future collaborative tourism opportunities tailored to enrich both countries’ cultural exchanges and business landscapes. The evening was further enlivened by an array of booth activities designed to promote both local and international companies. These booths introduced attendees to a range of offerings, from Italy’s finest culinary delights to Thailand's innovative tourism solutions. Key participants included Conserve Italia Soc. Coop. Agricola (Cirio) with its premium Italian produce, Alma Culinary School’s expertise, and Caffè Vergnano’s renowned espresso blends, among others. Following the panel, a networking cocktail reception allowed stakeholders to mingle, exchange ideas, and establish new connections. This part of the event was essential in facilitating dialogues aimed at fostering collaboration and partnerships within the tourism sector. The success of the event was made possible through the support of several sponsors and contributors, including Eva Air, Air India, and the dynamic participation of modern culinary and wellness brands such as Albero The Modern Gelato and Villa Tantawan Spa and Resort. Media support was rendered by MIDAS PR Group and Thaiger Media, ensuring a broad reach and impact. The TICC and TAT reiterated their commitment to promoting bilateral relations and cultural cooperation through events like this, encouraging knowledge sharing and tourism growth. They continue to plan further initiatives aimed at enhancing the dynamic relationship between Thailand and Italy. For additional information about the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce and updates on upcoming events, interested parties are encouraged to visit their website. This event underscores a shared dedication to cultural enrichment and economic partnership, further uniting Rome and Bangkok in a celebration of history and future collaborations. Transport Driving Licence Renewals Go Digital: No More Tests Needed
Well the way I see it is that if it is just for Thai citizens it will reduce the queue numbers so that'll be a plus...not that I had any trouble last November but then I didn't use the main office in the province.
