In his mandatory asset disclosure to the National Anti-Corruption Commission last year Prayuth listed 128.6 million baht in assets.

News from 4.Nov 2014:

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday asked reporters to stop digging into and criticising his family's 600-million-baht land sale, saying the plots belonged to him since he was little.

So the land was his. Sold for 600 million. Now he only have

128 million?

Strange.

Using the same calculator TAT use to work out tourist numbers..

that's always the same excuse from him  "" it's not me, it's them... the press, the people, the so called opposition, the farmer, the gardener ""  he's just a grumpy old man   555

Same with so many people in this government.  Nobody takes responsibility when things go wrong.

They'd get more respect when they did.

I'm personally upset about the rates and so is everyone else we know. 15% is a big increase especially when there making record profits.

These are the things that trigger overthrows.  Food and energy increases.

Prices and costs are going up.

It's a Vicious circle ,happens all over the world .If one thing goes up that has to be compensated with something else to pay for that so it will never stop.

Fuel goes up ,Transport costs go up ,transport goes up prices for retailers go up. people Shopping have to pay for this . Then people want more money than it starts again. When people get more money All other costs go up Again.

I have just heard from close thai friends with kids starting university who a little while ago bought a Mercedes SUV and just bought their new licence plate for 100k baht. That is one hundred thousand baht. So around $330 US. This they say is all for good luck.... a cultural and religious thing. So between the PM and his usual jibber jabber and this idea that numerology works and spending money on a license plate rather than on what children's education.... right on! Good plan. Good play. The mindlessness is astounding

Thud fella lives in cloud cuckoo land the quicker  the public vote him out of office the better only problem is the next clown might be worse

Not if they vote for Move Forward Party.

Many stuff in 711 are getting more expensive, like more than 10 %.

Whats new.

In Thailand two families own Tesco's, Big C's, Makros, and all 7/11's.

Monopolies like this there isn't any insensitive to offer lower prices.

 No competition.

Good reason to try and buy your stuff online.  Usually cheaper even with delivery.  I know our diapers are usually 100 baht cheaper on Lazada than Big C or Tesco's.  Big difference.

Just saw prices have risen across the board on all items at TOP's here in BKK.  Same Items we bought 2 weeks ago to supplement our once a month Makro trip today ran us 132 baht more.  We are talking about fruit and veggies.  Green seedless grapes were selling for 599 Baht for a kg.  That's up almost 200 baht in the past 3 months.  The food stalls have raised prices again this week because it is costing them more across the board.  2 months ago Chicken & Rice was 40 baht, today its now 55 baht.  My GF talked to the daughters father whose family runs a few Pizza Co. franchises and they have had to raise their prices as well as bringing on new menu items featuring chicken to bring in the customers.  He was complaining that she needs to give him money each month now to help care for the daughter.  She just laughed at him and told him that if that's what he wants then he can just give her full custody.

Most on this forum were applauding the devaluation of the baht and now they are complaining about high food and energy prices. ????????

As has been widely reported 18 % is to go on o all Electricity Bills from 1st September.

That is a massive hike in the price per Unit, and a double whammy for consumers, who will pay the increases through their own domestic usage, and also through the extra costs that will arise on all purchases they make, including Food..

This hike is going to cause even more woes for the Gov,t in the form of Inflation, that will surly soar again when this price rise kicks in.

18% Massive ? U.K. prices (and in Europe) are scheduled to TRIPLE and from a higher base, meaning average of circa £5000 per year for average  house next year ! Add in that diesel is approximately 75 baht litre and I have to say the costs savings being in Thailand have increased considerably.
That is not to overlook the fundamentals of Thai people being generally much poorer and the difficulties in absorbing increases being onerous. But this is part of a wider problem related to inequality and corruption which isn’t going to be solved soon ,so the short term answer is to subsidise those essentials to affordable levels.

The PM is completely correct. The price rise is only a few satang for a single unit.

Sadly though most business and home use more than a single unit of electricity in a month. This few satang will translate into about a 15% rise your electricity bills. So if for a medium sized business, your electricity bill is 500'000 baht a month you are now paying an extra 75'000 baht in electricity per month. Which is considerably more than a few satang.

I shudder to think how much the rise in electricity bills will be for the super cooled shopping malls  that litter the capital and country- I am sure that this few satang increase will be clawed back from their customers in some form or another

Clearly his understanding of the economics of the situation is as coherent as his leadership.

Spot on. Also have to factor in the knock-on effect for manufacturing, food processing, hotel accommodation, etc, etc. A vicious circle of price hikes and inflation.
