Lycos Email Problems

Featured Replies

Have been trying to get into my lycos.co.uk email account all day. You can get as far as telling you how many mails you have (at domain www.lycos.co.uk) but when you attempt to click on the link to the mail, held at domain http://mail.lycos.co.uk/ it times out...

Is it just me?

It's loading from outside Thailand so it's definitely a local problem for you. Probably sort itself out in a couple hours.

Here's something that may help:

Start/Run type command then type ipconfig/flushdns at the prompt to empty out the old dns cache. Sometimes this helps. Though you never know what screwy things your ISP may be messing with.

I had manually deleted all my offline content as well. Both plans came to nought. I guess that True (in BKK) are screwing something over on this. What they he_ll have they got against lycos mail?!?

Probably not Lycos in particular they're fiddling with. These techs are not terribly competent. :o

If it is any consolation, my email from lycos.com has been extremely slow for ages. Email from yahoo. uk is no problem. Via TOT Ipstar.

Have a coffee while you're waiting.

Coffee gone cold mate. 3rd day of trying and still timing out!

The most annoying thing is that you can get the bit that says how many unread emails you have (which goes up every day :o ) then times out on the inbox request.

I've been using lycos mail for years and have only had very sporatic and tempory problems which have been fixed usually within a couple of hours at the most. And it's never been any slower, or faster, than any of the other ones I use. Try signing into your mail using this site and see what happens. Lycos Mail

Thanks for this, but alas, I have a lycos.co.uk address, which cannot be access via lycos.com. I have also checked and there is no .co.uk equivelent page...

Still stuck! :o

What I would do at this point is go over to a friends house and try to access my mail using his computer. Or go to an internet cafe and try to do it there.

Flying in 7-hours, will use the PCs in Swampy airport lounge. Thanks.

It's not just you. For the past few days I've found it almost impossible to get into lycos at all. If I'm lucky I can get to the first page which shows me how many e-mails I've got - but as soon as I click on e-mail, the page freezes on loading around 75% and either times out, or occasionally gets through.

I used to think lycos was good, fast and efficient but lately it's driving me mad - so mad that I opened a googlemail account just so I can have more reliability. Couldn't find anyone else who was having these problems until today, so 'glad' it's not just me!

I use lycos for all registrations to forums and stuff like that, so any 'junk mail' doesn't matter, then I use outlook express for home, and yahoo when away. Googlemail is going to replace the ever-crawling lycos!
