Scott
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been defeated in the special election to represent Alaska in the US Congress. The winner, Mary Peltola, a Democrat, will be the first Alaskan Native to serve as a lawmaker in Washington for the state. The race was to fill a vacancy left after the former officeholder died. The seat is up for grabs again in November. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-62747378 1

This may very well portend what's to come in the mid-terms. Palin with a well known name and with Trump's endorsement still got beat by a Democrat in a relatively red state. This is what McConnell was talking about regarding candidate quality. Some of these Trump-endorsed candidates are rather weak and although the ex POTUS can move the needle in a primary, he may do more harm than good in a general election.
Eric Loh
Mary Peltola is now the incumbent going to the November election. She will win. Her credential is solid and well liked with her holistic views.

Bluespunk
From linked OP ''Ms Peltola ran against two Republicans in the state's first ranked-choice election, a system that was criticised by Ms Palin during the race as confusing and unfair.'' There were 2 republican candidates?
Popular Post pomchop
So how long til Palin claims the election was rigged? Whine and moan because you lost and blame everybody and everything except yourself and your refusal to support agendas wanted by vast majority of voters like abortion, banning assault rifles, and much more. Maybe more Americans are finally starting to realize that republicans are out of step with the majority of voters and are sick and tired of sore losers. 1

There were 2 republican candidates? They used a ranked-choice system. There were 1 Dem and 2 Rep, and the votes for the third-place finisher (a Rep) were redistributed to his voter's second choices. Interesting that quite a few of Nick Begich voters put Peltola as their 2nd choice rather than Palin, a fellow Republican. 1
