I remember stories of American serviceman in WW2 and the intense dislike of them by many Australian men. The americans had more money and fraternised heavily with Australian women when on R&R who were attracted by their big spending that Australian soldiers just could not compete with. It led to violence on many occasions.  Is it any wonder that Thai men see many farang as a threat that they cannot compete with in regard to what they can offer local women, especially financially and this causes jealousy and anger. I have met many expats who have little to no interaction with Thais and are seen as unfriendly and act as if superior by the local community. Fortunately not all but In the end we are all guests here and should at least extend some effort to be a little more sensitive and interactive with the local population.

We (USA Navy ship) anchored at Perth in like 1978. The girls were extremely friendly towards Yanks. It wasn't because the US guys had the $$'s either.

The below article (which makes for interesting reading) may help shed light on why some forum members seem to be obsessed with Thai manhood and masculinity, and serve as a reminder that we all have insecurities and issues:

https://www.vice.com/en/article/594yxd/interracial-cuckold-porn-white-male-insecurity-race

An excerpt:

In 2017, per Pornhub’s 2017 Year in Review, "cuckold,” as a genre/category (with varying racial compositions), increased in views by 72 percent. That might be unsurprising, considering the recent rise of the alt-right, who brought the 13th-century word "cuck”—used originally to describe how cuckoo birds deceptively lay their eggs in other birds’ nests—back into mainstream usage by hurling it at conservatives (or “cuckservatives”) and other white men they perceive as being “emasculated” or “selling out.” The alt-right’s usage of the term also sheds light on the more psychic reasoning behind the genre’s recent popularity surge: the perceived increasing disempowerment and marginalization of white manhood and masculinity.

Mods: above link does not contain pornographic content.

It has been my experience, that the term cuckservative, is used by those who have identified themselves as being on the left ,and is used as a pejorative against those they view as being on the right, or, not agreeing with those on the left.

This experience being through internet forums and not associated with any person I have met personally.

My brother went to Australia on R&R from Vietnam.  I remember him telling me that after the first night there, he didn't pay for anything in Australia.   Everything was paid for by the women he met there.   Knowing my brother I thought it was BS.   But other soldiers that met that had been on R&R there told me the same thing.

Thainess again. And I hope everyone can see the deep underlying racism. ????

This is not thainess, what are you on about?

Thainess is taught in social studies, it is all positive.

Many farang think they are liked here which is not true.

Imagine in the UK or US if your ex wife hooked up with an older sex starved Arab with loads of dosh, how could you feel?

American were disliked in NE Scotland in the 70s when drilling of oil started. Texans who said everything was bigger and better in the US. Not sure if they stole any prostitutes from their husbands.

But why I ask would she want a Falang husband ?

She sampled a Thai then after hearing so many stories from so many other Thai ladies she stepped up her game and headed to the Big Mango to find  a Pua Farung who would treat her like a woman while providing for her, her children, parents, livestock and village. His blue pills made  his game all that. Nothing like that first Pua Farung!

Sadly the Thai husband fails to accept his game is up.

Texan in a pub in Ireland talking to a local "On my farm I can get in my car at 8am and drive around my farm and not come back until 4pm"

The Irish farmer replied "Yeah, I once used to have a car like that."

I lost my laughing emoji. Maybe someone is trying to force us to write more posts?

We are centre of the universe, we have never been colonised, we dont need farang, we da best, yes, that's the Thainess they are taught!

Nonsense. Admit it, you don't know what Thainess is and don't want to assimilate, probably as you are a Yank and feel superior.

You are either born a Thai or you are a kek, jek or farang! Totally wrong on the Yank assumption!

Not that simple, there are lots of Jek Thais who are born here. One day, there will be farang Thais born here, when people they move here to assimilate.

So one person's comment was 'disgusting racism', and a post of yours says 'farangs' aren't liked here'

That second one sounds....what's the word??????.......racist.

I wonder if someone feels a little insecure, as those 'don't like farangs' comments come up in someone's posts on a regular basis. Apparently that 'someone' speaks for all 70 million Thais.  Of course, there does seem to be some Thai affection for all the heavy lifting the 'farang' have done, producing such things as electricity, airplanes, computers, medicine, phones, etc. That kind of creativity, invention and discovery must be called Farang-ness. "It's all positive" to quote another of 'someone's' posts.

Perhaps, just perhaps, we should judge each individual on his or her merits, not his/her ethnicity or place of origin. Generalizations are unpleasant.

Just a thought.

'Someone' has adopted a core element of Thainess without realising it. Say it straight man, shoot from the hip, call a spade a spade.

I think if we are talking about inventions etc, Scottishness would be more apt. After all, for a country of 6 million, we did more than our fair share, inventing things such as the telephone, TV, whisky, the US navy, Aussie Football, Ice hockey, tarmac roads, pneumatic tyres, penicillin, ether gas, the steam engine, the bicycle, the fundamentals of aircraft design, gas lighting, thermodynamics, cast steel, steel wire, roller printing, postage stamp, time(universal standard), temperature(Kelvin)the BBC, Gospel music, golf, logarithms, hypnotism, Gregorian telescope, Nobel gases, saline drip, hypodermic syringe, anesthesia, vaccines for many things,  , fingerprinting, cloning mammals, ECG, insulin, chainsaw, fridge, toilet, vacuum flask, lawnmower, Irn Bru, Bank of England, Buick cars, colour photographs, friend chicken, to name a few.

Perhaps because the  USA guys didn't mind them being fat and unattractive?
