Seems people are just making it up as they go along :whistling:

Who? I rarely fly direct since I love to land in different airports. Let's say that I need to go from Copenhagen, Zurich, Bangkok.

It always shows up in information that if I don't enter in Copenhagen the ticket from Zurich will be deleted. But the return tickets is not cancelled. I'm traveling several times each year the last 12 years. Now I'm travelling with Lufthansa, Emirates, Turkish, British, Qatar, SAS, Norwegian, Singaporean etc and it's same on all of the above. I don't know what airlines you take from Australia though

One thing Australian expats living in Thailand have a nice deal is that the flights in my thread Melb -Bangkok are 8.5 hours direct.

In hindsight shouldn't have started this thread.

A basic "starter booking" with low cost airline was always a loss of return flight.

I notice the usual suspect (on ignore) caused issue in my simple thread.

Thanks for most of the replies.

It's funny, but you too are/were on my ignore list and now I remember why.

Posts like yours here.

And this:

I will go as far as to call you a liar.

JetStar is a low cost airline, which means that your statement on Starter fares is a barefaced lie.

There is no doubt whatsoever that your return flight is still valid and that your grossly ungrateful reply speaks only to your uncouth behaviour.

Let's see if you are man enough to apologise, after you call JetStar to confirm.

I should let you know, just in case you attempt to Troll the members here, that I already contacted JetStar to confirm. Your statement on Starter fares was totally made up and the Inbound portion of your ticket is unaffected.

Truly disgusting to attack the person who helped you the most.

A lot of fighting and rudeness going on as usual.  Having been in the same position myself, I can only say what happened to me - I lost the return leg too, as it seems the OP has now learned.

Those smug ones on here that think they know the rules for every airline are quite simply wrong.  All airlines will have their own rules so the only way to know for sure is to contact them.  The norm is that you lose all subsequent flights if you miss the first leg but nobody can say that is the case with every airline. Unless of course, they have called every airline and obtained a copy of their rules.

Yes, I knew it would be lost.

Was just looking for confirmation of that so I can book new flight.

In the end got through to online chat with Jetstar and loss of return flight was confirmed.

Interesting that they told me exactly the opposite. I asked specifically about Starter Fares and your specific routing. When they confirmed the return would not be affected, I asked them again to double check. They confirmed that it was 100% correct that the return would be unaffected.

How does it look in your Bookings? Still there and available?

Pretty confused.

Given @Bruno123 earlier post it's only fair to update with recent "live chat" Jetstar.

The previous time I did live chat (as shown in attachments earlier post)

I was told that the return flight is 'lost' as I was tagged no show on outbound flight.

In my upcoming flights on my Jetstar profile the return flight was still there.

That flight was eg Thurs 17 Nov and used "manage my booking" to move it by couple of days.

My reasoning was that I might get credit for taxes etc.

Sure enough the "change flight" charge was $280.

The same booking done a separate stand alone booking was $450.

So I had another go at live chat. Screenshots attached.

Seems I might be good to go.

credit where it's due to Bruno123.

That was almost an apology ☺️

But not an issue. Happy to have helped.

OP here,

Just to wrap this thread up...

So despite confirmation via live online chat that my return flight was alive and usuable, one could imagine I was apprehensive as I had previously received opposite advice from Jetstar "online chat".

Having to book car hire etc in my mind was bit of a gamble.

In any event I just got off phone from Jetstar Bangkok office and they confirmed the flight was alive and usuable.

She touched on the fact that they use "different system".

Perhaps point to point (think she said something like that).

Bottom line is the flight is a go.

Handy as I already had a stand alone flight for Melb back to Bangkok.

Bottom line: check with your airline.

Thanks for all the help and input.

Hopefully can add quick question here (completely unrelated)

So booking trip Bangkok to Saigon return.

Scoot showing flights that suit me better than AirAsia which is who I normally use.

The payment and booking is via agent.

One is "MyTrip" there are others

Are these companies reliable?

Booking direct with Scoot appears quite a bit more expensive.

TIA
