Thai spouse visa and passport validity

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I own a non-immigrant visa (thai wife), i have to renew it on april 2023 but my passport will expire on september 2023. Do i have to renew my passport before the extension day (april 2023) ? When ?

Thanks for your help

If you apply for extension it will be granted with expiry Sept 2023.

You should obtain a pp renewal now.

BTW you have an extension of stay not a visa.

thanks Jack, is there a rule which require 6 months passport validity to extend the visa ?

Ok, so i can renew my passport just before applying for an extension of stay right ? Thanks Mate !

Yes but it might take weeks to get your new passport   depending on nationality

UK around 11 weeks for example.

Are you British?  A friend just got his new passport back after 17 weeks..........you have been warned.

Same here ,  16 weeks just over , I was told by immigration that they would only give me untill passport expires then they said I needed 6 months left on it so no extension, new passport needed ,

Never heard of that before, loads of stories of extensions being granted to the validity of the passport - which is standard. Sounds a bit rogue to me.
