Daily News Thai Caption: Drugs crackdown

 

Daily News reported that the authorities in Surat Thani in southern Thailand were starting a crackdown that they called a "War on Drugs".

 

This followed calls from senior politicians and the RTP chief for crackdowns on drugs and weapons among the public and the police force in the aftermath of the NE pre-school massacre reported elsewhere on ASEAN NOW.

 

The media reported that the governor of Surat Thani Wichawut Jinto and the head of Region 8 of the Narcotics Control Board Pheera Kanchanapong had agreed to work together on the issue of drugs.

It was noted that the June 9th liberalization of marijuana in the country had provided an entry point for many young people into drug culture.

 

Pheera said that tests on 10,000 school children and young people (under the legal age of 20) in the province had revealed 0.9 had THC in their system. 

 

A number of these were even primary school children.

 

Wichawut said that urine tests on police and many more children would take place. 

 

Pol Col Phaisan Sangthep - deputy commander of Region 8 police - said this crackdown would form part of the "White Police" initiative.

How is this even possible unless it is being used in food, or they are being exposed to second hand smoke from a family member who smokes in front of them.

Are the parents being told in advance that their kids are being tested for drugs ?  Who would think to drug test primary school students ?  Oh, and test their teachers at the same time please.

Answer: Because it is not unusual for 18/19 year olds to smoke weed. In fact I'm astonished that out of 10000 they only found 90.

It is not uncommon for ganja to be added to food such as noodles, and other broth based meals as it supposedly enhances the taste. Not at levels which will make you high though. This has been going on for decades if not longer.

It happens when you don't know how to use and handle it if it is free available. Also there is no informationand everyone want to have it.... Plants buying on streets, no problem.....

I am confused with this as well.

As far as I can see, this latest war on drugs is to prevent another mass killing by someone who is dusted to the eyeballs, even though the gunman on this latest massacre was proved to be clean.

Still, fair enough, if someone is dosed to the gillls on crta=zy pills, there is a better chance of them doing something out of the normal.

 

However, to presume that a 6 year old is going to pop a few Yabba, pick up a gun and carry out a massacre is ludicrous.

So why  are they drug testing babies?

1. Have they ever carried such large scale testing BEFORE June 9th? Ganja didn't magically appeared in Thailand on that date, had it?

2. It has already been established that weed is NOT a gateway to hard drugs.

3. I can't remember ever hearing or reading about a stoned person committing any violent crime or showing aggression...

without solid numbers of ages etc my guess is...

 

most of the positive tests were from kids around 15 or so up. normal really at that age in many countries all over the world right ? 

those under that age...

 

1 a few cases of actual use or accidental ingestion of a family members stash

2. as you said in the food or 2nd hand smoke. my mom used to breast feed me and smoke at the same time ????
