Car Or 4wd On Rent For 2 Days

Featured Replies

How much is approx cost of renting a 4WD Jeep ( air-conditioned ) or a 1.5 litres sedan for 2 days on Sel-Drive basis in Phuket ?

We would be staying in a hotel in Patong area.

Do you recommend that we look at the usual multi-national companies; Hertz, Avis etc OR we negotiate with local rental companies ?

What things we decide / discuss carefully with a local car rental company, before signing the contract ?

You should certainly read very carefully the insurance cover & your liabilities. Often the hirer claims full insurance, but in the event of an accident you may be required to pay some sort of excess. Also check out how the hirer deals with breakdowns.

I recommend you go with a multi national (Hertz/Avis/Budget) rather than a street independent. Might be a bit more expensive, but less hassle in event of accident or breakdown. And if only 2 day hire, it's well worth the extra money.

For Suzuki Jeep, about 800 baht/day and a small car about 1,400 baht/day.

I got a quote for 1,000 baht/day Honda Jazz or Vios.

They offer me additional 150 baht/day to eliminate the renter responsibility in case of car damage. Without this 150 baht/day, we as the renter will still reliable upto 5000 baht.

Yet to experience myself on this kind of insurance scheme.

Any input ?

Its only 2 days go with the big boys Avis etc. Feel safe anyway, you are talking such a small amount of money saved whats the problem? its got to be cheaper than your home country :o

I have been renting a car from PMP for 6 months. They provide full insurance and deliver the car to our base in the south of the island. They have been great and even came within an hour to start the car, after I accidentally left the lights on. The rates are good and negociable if you visit during low season. I think the suzuki jeeps are 700 per day.
