Scott
Boris Johnson is "clearly" still going to stand to be prime minister, after holding talks with his rival Rishi Sunak, one of his supporters has said. Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg told the BBC the ex-PM had the 100 backers needed to be in the contest. However, just over half that number have publicly declared their support for Johnson, while former chancellor Mr Sunak has already passed the 100 mark. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-63363420

However, just over half that number have publicly declared their support for Johnson Mr frugal with the truth and out of touch with reality strikes again. “In a damning verdict on the prospect of Johnson returning as prime minister, Suella Braverman has said the party “cannot indulge in parochial or nativist fantasies”. She warned fellow Tory MPs not to be “naive” when deciding who to nominate in the contest. Braverman’s decision is significant as Johnson’s team had made a “big pitch” to her on Saturday, in the hope that winning her over would persuade fellow right-wing MPs to back him. Braverman is a former head of the European Research Group of Brexiteer MPs. It is a further sign that the ERG is split down the middle between Sunak and Johnson.” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2022/oct/23/rishi-sunak-and-boris-johnson-hold-talks-with-one-day-until-tory-leadership-nominations-close-uk-politics-live?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
