The Triads have been here before the tour buses arrived!  When Thai Leaders started to kiss that Chinese XI butt that was the  green light for every Triads faction to set up shop.

Big Joke is their go to guy keep thinking Big Joke Fans how great and honest  he was put back for a reason!

They open a can of worms especially in the Bang Na area now they want to get tough!????

I have thought there is no tourism from china.

Those in attendance came in local high end cars, they were not bussed in in groups. So they are local chinese or long term expats, on work contracts.

You are right they were not tourists.

You may have noticed that the number of Mandarin speakers is going up again. And its not tourists you here speaking. Young strong tall men, short haircut, clad in black. The way they looked  when the Chinese took over Sihanoukville.

Of course these guys need Chinese food and Chinese KTV girls.

Orinoco and thailand49 are spot-on.

Staggering that this Big Joke fella (no pun intended, but with a name like that, WD<deleted> !) .. seems to get away with this kind of behaviour without challenge.

Who said Gen Pol Surachet  ( big joke) or anyone, is getting away with this ??    These Chinese  cartels need to be stopped. They have ruined Cambodia and are trying to get their finger in anywhere that will take back handlers. I’m quite sure that Gen Surachat is up for it.. I’d like to see those invaders out.

( ps Big Joke is nothing to do with the word Joke as in the English sense funny ha ha)

What's the attraction for Chinese travelers of gambling in Thailand while smoking Chinese fags and drinking Chinese liquor (served by Chinese wenches), when they can just go to Macao ????

Macao is near China and a easily contrôlable. Thailand is still more or less anonymous to the Chinese government who are actually trying to stop the money flowing OUT of China.,

Why do they need anonymity...gambling, smoking, drinking, and being served by young "ladies" is legal in Macao ????

The nickname was originally Big Jok, Thai for rice soup. I suspect a visit from him is far from a joke.

Surachate was born in 1970 in Songkhla. His father, also a policeman, based his son’s nickname on his favorite playing card: the joker.

From your link above, that's what I did:

It would be great if someone could provide a link to a Thai language newspaper article where the nickname of police officer Big Joke is used.

So that was the English language version of the Khaosod Thai newspaper re: the joker card explanation.

Seems rather fanciful, and I hope they had a licence for those playing cards.

Except he doesn't.

The one Thai cop who truly went after the Army and those above him is now in exile in Melbourne.

BJ was a part of that, and got cold feet. He still did time demoted to a back office to think about his ways, and his car was shot up. It was all mentioned on this site.

There's a documentary about the brave cop on YouTube for anyone who wants to know more, made by the East101 program.

The OPENING statement is that CHUWIT is a TV personality & ex-politician.

The author neglected to include CHUWITS's chain of sexy massage parlours ,

now all gone and he is squeaky clean .

What's that about glass houses & throwing stones ???

10% of "thais" are Chinese, and 40% are Chinese origin.

Even those we dont speak of, are Chinese inheritance.

wiki link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Chinese

Quote from your Wikipedia link:

Theraphan Luangthongkum claims the share of those having at least partial Chinese ancestry allegedly at about 40 percent of the Thai population without any proof

so it's one person's guess

You didn’t read my post ! Macao is very much under the eye of China. The money used for these drug/ gambling set ups in Cambodia and now Thailand is black money , taken out of China illegally. The Chinese government are trying to stop this untaxed money leaving the country.  They already have their people on spot in Sihanoukville trying to weed out these Chinese mafia.

Spot on.

There is a "hotel" near us, owned by Chinese, run by Chinese. All food is delivered from the same Chinese restaurant. All prostitutes are Chinese and delivered by the same cars.

The guests staying there all have luxury cars, Rolls Royce, Bentleys and so on. All very strong, short clipped hair. Sleep during the day. Wake up around 5 pm and do a couple of hours of heavy weight training and martial arts. Then they "do something" all night long. Cars coming and going every 30 minutes until 6 am when they decide to sleep.

Well there would be plenty of Brown envelopes being handed to many of the BIB including the hierarchy so a blind is turned!!!  A lot of these Chinese business people have a lots of money so that stands tall in Thai society, especially with politicians and law enforcement. Thailand really needs to cleanse its self of these practices but I doubt that will ever happen.
