Translating GrabFood ?

Is there a way to translate GrabFood offers from Thai to English ?

I get around it by using a spare phone with Google translate to read the Thai screen text and translate to English. I haven't found a better way (other than learning to read Thai).

Copying/cutting and pasting doesn't work on Grab's food menus.

You know you can translate from a photo? Just take a screen shot of the page...open google translate and select the camera / photo icon. Then select the photo from your gallery.

I use it to read menus and articles. Just point the phone at the print, no need to take picture. Also for Iphone.

Its not Grab food. The vendor can supply descriptions in English also if the choose

Another vote for Google Lens as it works on the ubiquitous infographics/cartoons.

 

It also works well to identify information on images, like where is that building in that photo, and where did this chap steal that image.

They don't want the business.  They could offer a sort by English menu button with virtually no programming effort but they don't.   

 

You can use their online site with Chrome and Google Translate the page, although logging in to see the prices is annoying as you must use a phone access code each time.  It is the easiest way though.

You have to take a screenshot and then open it in Google translate.

 

But the offers on Grab are pretty rubbish these days so I just use foodpanda which is already in English.

That requires two phones, doesn't it, one that shows the menu and another to point at it and translate?

I suppose that when over 99% of their customers read Thai it's not unreasonable for them to not want the trouble of producing an English menu.

I'd be more amazed to know how to point the phone that the menu is displayed on at the app that is on that same phone!

OK, maybe I don't understand how you are getting this menu on Grab as I have never used it. This is how I have used Google Len on similar apps. If the menu comes as a photo, I just open it in Google photos, click the Lens button, and then translate. If on the other hand, it comes in another format, I do a screen capture, open in Google photos, click Lens, translate.

Tap Translate Screen app.  Draw a box round the Thai text with the on-screen cursor and it'll translate the contents of the box.  Fiddly to start with but you get used to it.

Google Lens is definitely the way to go. Quick and easy.
