Everyone's on a budget, the goal with experience is to get the maximum enjoyment out of your own level of budget. Never understood why people automatically connect the word budget with cheap as in a lot of the posts above. As I've got older my spend seems to have naturally decreased, I wonder what the hell I used to spend my money on because I feel like my quality of life has increased.

True. More focused spending.

Typical day

Hotel 500 to 700 baht

Food for 2 is 800 baht

Other 500 baht

1800 to 2000 baht

Sometimes an extra 1000 baht if want to do some touristy thing

When we travelling as a couple we spend around 2500 - 3000 a day on food and hotel. When I travel on motorbike a hotel is typical 800 baht, food and drinks around 800 a day as well. Diesel and gasolin on top of it.

9600 per night but including

96,000 baht on hotel for 10 nights. But 75,000 in total.

Your numbers dont add up.

You spent minus 21,000 on food etc which means Thailand is very cheap.

Then you are way above average of most here who live here as an expat. When you know where to live, you manage to find decent hotels for less than half price. Marriot Sukumvit 22 we lived several times for 6k a night included breakfast.

Anyone who wants to live like a loser bum can do it here.

I have seen this too many times to count, it’s actually sad, people existing , not living,

thailand attracts them from all over the world.

What is living?

Living is being able to enjoy things that one can hope in their golden years.

perhaps a nice meal, travel, going to a nice place with a significant other. Have money for an emergency, medical treatment etc.being a contributing member of society, not waiting for the day when they need a go fund me page. Those days come for everyone,

walk around pattaya- Soi big cow and you’ll see what existing means!

If you need to ask this question, perhaps an education is what you are lacking?

So what is it? 300 baht meals? 600 baht meals? Opera and lobster?

Had a nice mushroom soup 60 baht. Thai travel is cheap. 2000 baht a day provides a good trip.

No, not really. You can eat out cheaper, transport is cheaper, power and fuel also, along with getting things fixed etc. Surely all cheaper than USA, UK, Oz, EU Countries. I'll get a Bolt taxi 12 Km later for far less than a taxi at home would be....

In my ol' hood, most things are more expensive or at best, the same.

... Electric & petrol, about the same, though I don't use either here any more

... Solar & EVs, much more expensive there

... Rents, much more there

... RE Taxes, non existent here, outrageous in Philly, USA

... Healthcare, ridiculously expensive there.  Just had a procedure done, cost $5500 here w/meds.  Philly, USA ... 'Philadelphia, PA Cost Average, $26,600 - $73,200/Philadelphia costs $43,202 on average'

... anything involving labor, much cheaper here

... food, tough call, most cheaper here, as is eating out, but the experience is completely different.  Cheaper, but wouldn't call it 'fine dining', which is also expensive here.

What it cost for RE Taxes & Healthcare alone in the USA, monthly, I can live on here, and quite comfy at that.  Really is no comparison.

Agree with some.

Transport: Care more expensive here

Fuel: Auto fuel a push I think

Power: Cheaper here. Not sure how much. Been here too long to compare

Taxi: Probably right. Not used one in years

RE taxes and medical care are definitely cheaper here. Materials more expensive here, labour much less but quality less also. No idea about EVs or solar. More importantly, ice cream is definitely more expensive here

Been all over Thailand. If you live in Thailand then explain which of those listed items are wrong?
