I am visiting the United Kingdom currently and have been exposed

to the country's television broadcasts for several weeks.

Black people seem to feature on screen or in commercial advertisements,

or in background voice-overs, out of all proportion to the percentage they

hold in the population at large.

Asians (especially those of Indian or Pakistan origin), despite being a

larger ethnic proportion of the whole population (I believe), only seem

to figure marginally in the set up. My remarks also apply to the BBC

website, which is left-biased, and woke, and subscribes to this "new

normal".

I remarked to my daughter that, based on what one sees on television,

if I were a visitor from outer space, I would believe that Britain was an

African country rather than a largely caucasian one.

And whilst certain apologists, or "wokists",  might deem this post to be

"racist", in its orientation,  it is simply my observation and is not intended

to confront or offend.

B & W tv was ok. The Avengers was great till it went colour, then they must have changed the writer or something as I didn't like it any more. Dr Who was better with Patrick Troughton when it was B & W.

Many of the greatest British movies were in B & W, IMO.

The modern world is rubbish.  I think Dr Who would’ve been better on the wireless.

I guess you are assuming that the aliens would base their opinion on television drama, and not sport.  The EPL would be more representative

Good enough WiFi to be on Asean Now though.   555

Are you trying to be obtuse? I never said I couldn't ever get on it, just sometimes.

Always some joker taking the p.

Agree about the modern world. We've become mere consumers to make the rich richer- advertising is everywhere.

I fondly remember radio shows when the family would gather to listen to Life with Dexter, Around the Horn, Journey into Space, etc.

If you want to see the woke development of the BBC (and woke generally) look for Silent Witness (available on BBC iPlayer).  This police/pathology whodunnit series began in 1995 and continues to this day.

In 1995 there was never a single black face to be seen.  By 2000 you could see minor police officers of "bame" provenance, and by 2010 you began to see blacks  in senior police positions (nearly always female).

It's all basically woke in outlook, but it doesn't go out of its way to make  men (especially white men) look dumb.

In these truly modern times, the show has Clarissa (of the "ableist" community) who, despite her physical infirmity, manages to help solve the most complex of crimes.  So far we have not seen a trannie.  (However, I have only seen the show up to 201e to be 9.)

Along with the above, seems to be that the major characters in soaps have to be ugly and aggressive.

I stopped watching mainstream commercial tv long ago, given the excessive advertising, so thankfully I don't get to see the latest attrocities against us on tv.

Now that people steal movies off the internet, DVDs have become something that op shops sell for a couple of $, so they do me quite nicely.

Based on tv ads from the past 20 years, IMO your alien would believe that men are stupid creatures, and women incredibly intelligent, perfect specimens of humanity.
