Has anyone any information on the closure of PayPal accounts to foreigners in Thailand requiring a 13-digit Thai national ID card to remain open. Can a foreigner use a driving license or national insurance number or is it strictly only Thai nationals.

You can use the 13 digit number you were given for your Covid registration. I used this and it was accepted but I eventually decided to close my Paypal account as I only use it in association with my UK bank account and that is no business of Thai authorities.

Believe you also have to have a registered business in Thailand.

I have a registered business and a 13 digit id number. My account was closed. The id number was rejected.

It was the same for a couple of friends that also have registered businesses here.

We are using the National Digital ID (NDID) platform

As only Thai nationals can get an DNID and as it is used for all personal accounts you, and all non Thai nationals are SOL.

To enroll in NDID, a Thai national ID is currently required.

No pink cards or anything but a Thai national ID

Talking about Paypal in general

Dont ever forget to update a mobile number before the old one is taken out of service lol

I've just spent 34 minues on the trumpet to them trying to gain access to an 18 year old account. Log in name and password obvious lol but then it wants to "confirm" its you lol (fair enough)

Welcome to a world of issues if you cant access that old number lol  !!

Did it in the end but dear oh dear !! ( my fault I acknowledge)
