A Thai good Samaritan caught an alleged drunk driver after seeing him hit and run a motorcyclist last night, November 13th, in Chonburi.

29-year-old Samaritan Mr. Athiwat (the last name not provided) assisted 23-year-old injured motorcyclist Mr. Yodkwan Thepphaboot in capturing an unidentified perpetrator who hit and ran him in Banglamung’s Nongprue sub-district yesterday.

Yodkwan told the Pattaya News he was hit “twice” by a white Toyota Yaris sedan on Soi Map Yai Lia 14. The sedan driver, who was heavily intoxicated, said Yodkwan, briefly stopped to negotiate the first time he hit him, but the driver suddenly fled in his car when he was asked by Yodkwan to pay 5,000 baht in damages and medical compensation.

This will just boil down to some 'misunderstanding' and some fat bottomed policing negotiating for compensation rather than a prosecution and work

Sadly, I completely agree.....

... it is this repeated response which enables DUI behaviour and actually ‘creates’ more danger on the roads as people are sent the message that DUI is not a serious issue, they’ll simply get away with it if they have an accident....
